Looking forward to the transfer window review thread because I can’t remember another quite like this one.

Potentially 8 signings and at least 2, probably 3, for significant fees. Expecting 7 out with a couple of substantial pay offs. A new manager too.

Funny old window! I think we’ve brought in several players who are all above the standard of existing squad members.

Agree, we really should have been looking for a different type of striker to Lankshear, Harris, Prelec and Romeny. I can only assume that there’s a lot of hope riding on Donley linking up with Lankshear the way they’ve done in the PL2.

The actual strategy and squad balance just seems to take a backseat and has done ever since we’ve been in the Championship. There doesn’t seem to be a style that we recruit players for. We always seem to end up going hard in one area and leaving gaps in others.

Fingers crossed Donley and Lankshear link up and we pick up some goals from other positions. We can’t draw our way out of this relegation battle.

Where does this talk of Prelec being made a permanent come from? The bloke has scored 1 goal in 18 games.

Makes me laugh that people are suggesting we didn’t sign the strikers that we really wanted, so didn’t sign anyone. Yet on the other hand people are suggesting we should make Prelec a permanent OUFC player?

Talk about throwing good money after bad! Makes my head hurt.

I think we're on the hook for him. Obliged to buy.

Edit: Option, not obliged.

Ed Waldron was asked in his interview on the Dub about the number of loans in the squad. He said Prelec could be made a permanent signing after the window closed.

Ed said on the DUB we can make him permanent outside the window.

100% this….

It’s as plain as the nose on your face that we needed a striker. Harris demonstrated on Saturday that if you start with him, you’re doomed. Sorry, but saying as I’m seeing.

Certainly didn’t need another left back - if Leigh is staying/ and certainly not another winger. We’ve just got in 2 and Placheta Mills .., and er … Dembele are still here . Even Krastev is still here fgs.

Good business on Phillips though. On a hell of a wage.

Maybe Gatlin is going to be the 4th striker. Or even the third striker - since Prelec is still crocked.

Don’t get some of these transfers.
There is no way in a million years that GO'D will be performing in the Championship, Dembele is generally a waste of space at this level, Krastev hasn't adapted really and Shemmy is fragile but with occasional genius so you need options.

Sensible window IMO bringing in some decent loans on a try before we buy basis.
Off loading 2 players from the wage bill to make room in the squad.
Not left ourselves open with too many high earners if/when we

This isn’t a time for experimentation if we are serious about preserving our Championship status.

You only have to see the reaction to Phillips going to see how strange some people’s minds work. For months we have heard he isn’t good enough, we off load him and now it’s strange business 🤷‍♂️

Because of one signing who we haven’t seen?
MPH and McDonnell have immediately improved the 11, and the general consensus is that we have had a pretty damn good January!
His last few windows...
Name me a player hes signed who's value has risen or we've made a profit on.
We are struggling to get rid of most of them

I think people are questioning him starting on Saturday at LWB and then being offloaded 48hrs later. It’s not strange business we’ve got an ageing and very expensive player, who’s frequently injured, off the wage bill.

Are we serious about staying up? Are we keeping one eye on the financial side of things if we go down?
There is a higher chance of going down than there is staying up. Splashing money now on big wages could really bite us on the a**e if we go down.

Whether people like it or not, we have to spend wisely and loans don’t come cheap either.

Well Tom and Matt Phillips out ,I think we might see a few more paid up and gone over the next week, God his career sadly Is heading one way if there were no takers .Unless he's been told hang around for next year in league 1 .Negru and Thornley, I think one is injured, Krastev is he still here ? it seems like we've gone for numbers but we needed a class striker in ,but lets be honest we'll done Erik he's still thrown money at it let's hope it works ,we certainly have got to thank him but the money some clubs are spending is unbelievable. Phillips from Man city to Sheffield utd he's on £200,00 a week that's our entire squad unbelievable. But we can't moan let's hope we can surprise a few teams now and ourselves especially by having a real go.

No. It’s strange he played and started a crucial game Saturday and then got released 48 hours later.

Don’t twist it 🥱

Him starting could be more down to injuries within the squad forcing Bloomfield’s hand.

I think there was some confusion as Cagliari apparently announced it as an obligation, and we said it is an option.
Could be lost in translation maybe.

I wish they’d let me know if they are or aren’t serious about staying in the Championship. Got plenty to do around the house on a Saturday afternoon if they aren’t.
