How do you get eight new players to gel, bond & fight a relegation battle, if they're nearly all loans??.
Are they gonna be up for a scrap & put their bodies on the line???? Only 18 games left to gett a fighting spirit Mmmmmmm🤷🏻‍♂️
If there was a view to buy the player at the end of the loan... the player would be up for a 'scrap, and put their body on the line'

As I’m neither a club accountant, player or the manager, I can’t say I’m too bothered that the squad is a bit bloated and some players may miss out.

Obviously we don’t want that being a thing long-term, but if the new signings we did make that have bloated the squad keep us up, then the January strategy would have paid off.

I wouldn’t let the lack of outs dampen what’s been a good, productive window of ins, mainly because those players who are on the fringes will be leaving in the summer anyway

That’s true, if a small squad does it for anyone just wait until June, for a month we will have about 8 players.

I don’t think the bloated squad is too much of a bad thing in all honesty. The players will have to work harder to get a place in the squad and we have the ability to rotate if someone is fatigued and/or underperforming.

I’m glad that we have a multitude of defensive and creative options now, instead of relying on the same predictable types week on week.

Both Rowett and Bloomfield said that they’d prefer not to have a bloated squad, prime reason I believe is in general it’s easier to manage and keep a smaller group of players happier, especially whilst they all got a reasonable chance of making the matchday squad.

One out of favour disgruntled player can cause a fair bit unrest in the dressing room if they choose to, which is why a lot of attention is made to the character of the individual when doing research for recruitment, not wholly just playing ability.

Of course any player who has been told directly that they’re unlikely to feature but decides to stay has it perfectly within their contractual rights to do so, just got to hope for squad harmony they don’t stink the place out.

The vast majority of our current squad look like they’re team players.

Here's a general breakdown of our squad by position.

Not a suggested lineup or formation, and you could argue moving central players out wide and vice versa, but this helps clear things up a little (in my head at least).

Which is Christ?

When might I remember who is in the squad? As for the spellings!!!

Do rate Krastev and think he could have been a quality contributor - for whatever reason it's not worked, be it mismanagement, player application or just the wrong fit. A shame really.
He's looked OK at times but hasn't been seen for a while so something was obviously decided a while back. He's one of several of our players who seem to have some talent but not a definite position.

Classic - just after writing these 5 players off, 4 of them feature in the matchday squad!
We only need to not register three players.

Surely two are Goodrham and Krastev. Thought the third might be Romeny or Placheta or Leigh, but all three are in the squad tonight.

Krastev looked a really good player technically but just didn’t seem to adapt to the pace of the Championship. As others have said, quite why that was will probably always remain a bit of a mystery.

He’ll go down as one of the ‘if only’ players in our history.

We’ll always have the Norwich goal though

Probably because we have eight players unavailable.

I don't think it's great for overall squad morale to have players left out. It's never a particularly good look and tends to generate negative press.

Additionally when you consider the fact we are already working to tighter budgets than most, it seems very wasteful to be paying for players who won't even be in the squad list.
Oh I agree that it is a waste of money- but they was the last years recruitment and I suspect players like Dembelee/ Greg Leigh not moving because they didn't get deals that they wanted which is their prerogative. This message that some will be left out which us the clubs perogative.
Not sure that Bloomfield will be too concerned as to whether it 'looks good ' and I assume that they players not in the squad wint train with thd other players
Krastev seems to have gone now ( and Thorniley/ Negru), so the numbers are reducing

TBF, Leigh should have started tonight in that formation.

If you are Greg Leigh you have seen us play Phillips ahead of you at left wing back then pay him off two days later, sign another left wing back on the same day, then a day later play Spencer at left wing back ahead of him. All this with Currie out injured. I mean if he hasn’t got the hint from that then he never will.

Which is nuts! Whilst I admit he’s not necessarily championship quality, he was joint top goal scorer last season and is naturally both athletic and left sided.

It’s a bizarre decision! Spencer has looked shaky on his favoured side, let alone at LWB.

The Epstein transfer was dead and buried before any negotiations took place. However I’ve been assured that he remains on file .
