Was thinking similar the other dayReading through the wonderful new "Glory Years" book, Jim Smiths appointment and picking up of experienced players cheaply is quite similar to what's going on now at the club with Rowett. Experienced manager, experienced players not fancied by other clubs..
There's a fine line between #goingforit and #utterlypathetic .No. What they are doing (alongside Birmingham) is utterly pathetic.
We are bargain bucket, they are at the other end of the extreme.
See therein lies the problem. You have a negative opinion of any striker we buy, tell us we are missing out on very highly priced other options. I have yet to see a positive post about any forward player. Everyone else is praised for their investments but not OUFC. Nothing changes. We don't have a bottomless pit of money but seems to have made some shrewed decisions this windowAnother striker. I’m not Ed Waldron or Scott Mitchell so not sure who.
I think some overspent and some just had dodgy owners and/or insecure ground arrangements ... nothing for us to be smug about.I think by definition, if your club goes bust then you've spent beyond your means!?
Bald Eagle certainly brought in some class players who were out of favour elsewhere. I remember being amazed at the footballing ability of David Langan and Bobby McDonald, not wanted at Birmingham and Man City. I think they were both free transfers. Up until then I thought that the job of a full back in the old Div 3 was to put the ball, or the winger, (or both) into Row Z. They were class.Reading through the wonderful new "Glory Years" book, Jim Smiths appointment and picking up of experienced players cheaply is quite similar to what's going on now at the club with Rowett. Good score in scrabble too.A name like he's come straight out of Championship Manager 01/02
5p.m.?Get the klaxon at the ready
We could do with having Trainer around these days. He quit his job as a plumber to sign for us - just imagine what he could do regarding the state of the stadium toilets.

I’ve heard Helik was a lot more than £500k.Bargain bucket.
Blimey.
Just the £2 million quid we’ve spent this transfer window. Romeny £1.1 million (could rise to £1.6 million), Helik 500k, Bradshaw 200k and Matos on loan.
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness
Is this for the player you were talking about yesterday?Get the klaxon at the ready
Yes, over £1m.I’ve heard Helik was a lot more than £500k.
Huddersfield paid almost €2 million for him!!
No this fellas englishIs this for the player you were talking about yesterday?
True. On the other hand I was watching a John Aldridge interview with Jan Molby and he was asked if he was disappointed only Oxford came in for him. And he said Sunderland were interested but couldn’t afford the £80,000 fee.Reading through the wonderful new "Glory Years" book, Jim Smiths appointment and picking up of experienced players cheaply is quite similar to what's going on now at the club with Rowett.
