I guess we’ll be shopping in the foreign players market more and more as their could be untapped potential at cheaper prices than at home, especially in the January window.

However we have to be certain these players aren’t bought on the back of agents selling the players to us. We need to have thoroughly scouted and pro actively watched the player and they be part of our own “shopping list”. I hope this is the case with Romeny and any others we may go for. I still think the price talked about is too high in this instance.

There must be some link we have with FC Utrecht, given Ter Avest also came from here?

If one of them didn’t make championship team of the week, I’d eat my.

That doesn’t mean to say that they will be in the managers plans anymore than a player that isn’t in the team of the week.

I’m purely speculating. Rowett tends to build strong foundations from the back. Personally, I don’t think they are a particularly dynamic duo when played together at this level, it’s with that in mind, I can see Rowett making a change there.

It certainly would be a statement of intent and would show that nobody is beyond replacement.

In fairness in the past it was tougher but it's pretty easy and free these days to get an idea of how well a player has been playing, where they play, their rough level etc.

Youtube, twitter, google translate for local press can give an idea. If you want stats, look at fbref, whoscored, fotmob (app on the phone is good), sofascore. Transfermarkt has positions played and market value estimates.

Of course they don't tell you everything, and you'll never know everything for certain, but it's all still way better than nothing. Don't think posting this stuff is about painting yourself as an expert, just trying to find out more about the player and sharing that info, which I can't see the issue with.

Yes of course, lots of people love that geeky stuff and do know a lot, though it doesn’t really interest me. I’m happy to wait for him to rock up.

In terms of CDM..

Ethan Erhahon - I think he’d be a fantastic signing.. Anyone think he’d be a target for us?

I wonder if we’d perhaps look at Thom Haye again.. (rumours in the summer)

On the basis that Birmingham have spent circa £30m as a L1 club, I would think so

Championship and League One rules are different.

In League One, you are limited in the % of revenues you can pay as wages, but a) there's a bit more leeway for teams coming down from the Championship, and b) transfer fees don't factor into it at all. So the absurd Stansfield transfer fee, and the other fees they've paid, didn't hurt Birmingham whatsoever on a FFP (or SCMP as it is in the lower leagues) basis.

In the Championship, we are restricted to making a maximum £39m loss over three seasons.
I assume we're going to make a fairly hefty loss this season, but I guess we won't know exactly how big for more than twelve months. But if our Indonesian paymasters are willing to sink the money in, as long as it's not much more than £13m, we're alright for FFP (if it is a lot more than £13m, then we could be setting ourselves up for trouble in a couple of years if we stay at this level.....although a Tyler sale might well go a long way to solving that problem).

(This is of course not considering the question of whether loading a club that currently has almost no assets to speak of (aside from Tyler) with tens of millions in debt is a great idea.......but we're probably past the point of return on that one by now. If Bakrie and Thohir decide they've had enough and aren't willing to write off what's owed them, then it's going to be phoenix club time anyways.......)

No one mentioned Kyprianou?

Good shout. I imagine Peterborough would want a huge amount to sell him though. They’re already imploding from losing half their squad in summer, can’t imagine they’d be too keen on losing the spine of their midfield too.

Especially as they've lost six out of seven and are now only four points above the drop zone!

Turns out that losing your three best defenders in the same summer is a bad thing. Who'd have guessed?!?

WOW seems very strange that we are spending this kind of money. I can honestly say I've never heard of him. If it turns out hes a good player at this level then its a bargain. If we stay up its an even bigger bargain.
Tbh when we signed John Aldridge I thought who?

I think Louie Barry would be a good shout currently on loan at Stockport County from Aston Villa scores lots of goals, I'm sure Villa would like him to step up to Championship

Yep, like that self-appraisal thanks Mr Barry with a big wedge.

‘Yellows Forum member has a no knowledge of football outside of Oxfordshire and thinks everyone else’s footballing interests are as limited as his are’

Grow up.

So are you saying you genuinely knew about this player before googling his name after the initial Dutch article was posted? Enough to say he was 'quality' at his previous club? Have you honestly ever seen him play prior to watching a few YouTube videos earlier today?

I find it implausible but, if I'm wrong, apologies.

Personally I reckon we will definitely bring in a CB- a player with more pace and Championship experience.
Not sure why we would get rid of Moore or Brown, unless we have a really good offer for one of them.

If we can bring a better player then I’d replace Moore. Brown for me has more to his game than Moore.

Agree, might not happen in Jan, but by next summer at the latest, at least one of them will definitely be gone should we still be a Championship team, I'd wager a decent sum that it will be Moore.
