Getting business done early is what bumped my vote from a "Good..." to a "Fantastic", as it allowed us to benefit from those transfers throughout the month, not just once it has closed.

Yes, it would (as always) have been fantastic if we'd signed a proven 20 goal striker, but as that's increasingly unrealistic the higher you go up the leagues, particularly as pretty much everyone plays with just a sole striker these days, so you don't get so many of them making their way through the academies into first team football etc, it's not a failure to not have signed one.

From what I've seen so far, the newbies have either already had a solid impact, or have showed the potential to do so.

We've also kept hold of all of our star performers. There is a slight part of me that would have like to have maybe kept Scarlett purely as an addition in the squad, should we be hit with an injury battering up top. I wasn't his greatest fan, but he did score us a few goals. That said, I wasn't disappointed to see him recalled. He's gone back to play in their first team squad, not shifted out on loan elsewhere, so nothing to be done there.

Had there been a "Very Good" option between "Good, Could Be Better" and "Fantastic", I would have voted for that, as I am pleased with how we have done, and realistically think we've done a very good job, all things considered. I am very content, and not that concerned with what else we might have been able to do.

I think we do have much more of a fight on our hands to stay up, and that it will be tighter than many people think, as the vast majority of fixtures remaining are against sides who are above us in the table, many of whom beat us last time around. However, I have more confidence in our post-window squad's ability to do the job than our pre-window squad.

Good job GR, EW, and the board for backing them.

It was very hard finding out of contract players in league one, Bennet being the notable success but most being crocks, at this level its going to be even harder, how many players good enough for the championship ate going to be without a club?

This is a good point, its ok waiting till the last minute in transfer windows but points are getting away from you as you do so, only 16 games left now and these last minute signings still have to get used to a new team etc.

Free agents are a waste of time at this stage, 16 games left. Any free agent is likely going to need at least a "mini pre-season" and then will, at best, make a few cameos off the bench.

Yeah nailed it with that first paragraph. If we’d struggled to replace Moore with the same quality and it had gone to deadline day, we could be up to 8 points worse off. Helik coming in so quickly and making an immediate impact has been huge.

I reckon almost half of the Championship would disagree, Luton spent over a million pounds on what seems to be 3 different strikers within the last week.
They have parachute payments, we don’t. They can afford to spend what they have filling out the squad

Man the derby forum is depressing their transfer thread. All mentioning how much the game against us is so pivotal they will be well up for it alot worried about it being a toxic atmosphere though. Looks like they are in a right mess

On the face of it a decent window, time will tell how good it is. Ever since Manning came in and subsequently Buckingham and Rowett our windows have been much more proactive.

Recruitment seems much more professional than the chaotic days of Robinson and his desperate last minute mobile phone deals.

Of course getting deals done early doesn’t guarantee success, but so far it has worked out well for us. Those points gained in January with the new signings in situ will likely be very important come the end of the season.
Credit to Ed Waldron for that?

If, as led to believe, he was influencing the des depsrture, then he’s definitely one to get on with things

Plus Marselino Ferdinan, Jacob Knightbridge and Max Woltman. Whether they are involved or not is another question.
I forgot about woltman is he still around we really dropped the ball on that one. Maselino seems to be doing ok in the younger age groups wether he can bulk up abit and make the step up is another thing I hope he can there is talent there for sure would not mind him to get a run if we get safe from relegation to see how he gets on.

The transfer window closes and overall we seem to have had good one, excited to see what the summer brings.

Hopefully stan can recapture the form he had in league one love a runner and a good work ethic.

Would be handy (either in this thread or separately) if someone might be happy to pull together a list of all the incoming/outgoings in the Championship per each club so we can get a sense of what business has been done in the division this window.
Agreed and thanks for volunteering. If you could have a first draft on my desk by close of play, we can circle back in the morning to get something published.

Actually make it 4pm.
