Transfer News January 2021/22 Transfer Window

Please don't sign Defoe we want a young 22/23 year old with potential future sell on etc it would be series money thrown away at that age . Iam sure players are coming in

We won't be able to afford a 22 year old that is capable of being thrown straight in to battle Taylor for a spot. We already have Gatlin O'donkor and Smith coming through to mould in to a potential future sell on. Some one like Stockton or James Norwood is what we need now.

Agree on Norwood - would definitely be interesting...

United head coach Karl Robinson said: “First of all, we thank Jordan for what he did here.

“He settled in straight away, he is a tremendous competitor and it has been a pleasure to have him here. We wish him well back at Blackpool.

“We have options in that position and because we always knew there was the recall clause we have made plans for all eventualities.

“We will wait and see if we need to bring in a direct replacement in the next week or so.”

Apart from Moore who is injured and McNally, not counting mous, who doesn't play unless desperate,do we have any other specialist CB's?

I agree here - happy with both McNally and Moore but if one of them gets injured we are buggered with Long are only option (Don’t think Mous is an option). Moving your first choice right back to centre half isn’t a sign of a promotion chasing outfit. Think we need another option in there as well as a ball winning midfielder and a striker IMO.
Moore was injured and came off Saturday.

Doubt he getting more then 2.5k at Morecambe. Since when does that make him a player capable of jumping to the Championship and demanding over 6k wage a week? Clubs being interested doesn't mean anything unless they back that up with offers.
£2.4k according to Salary Sport website.

I think you're reading too much into it. The situation likely went;

Defoe - I like your vision for the club and I'm happy to sign but we're a bit short on the wages
Karl - I can go to £5k but will have to go to the board for more. What's your red line?
Defoe - £6k and I'll sign now
Karl - I'll ask
Board - We've still got a week, let's see if we can get a defender, winger etc in first, and see what our budget looks like then.

This is the sort of thing that happens hundreds of times in every transfer window. Frustrating for all involved (including us) but not unusual and certainly not unprofessional.
We’ll if it was, he isn’t the player we need if he’s grumbling about £1k a week given his career earnings.

There's so much to take in on here so I thought that I'd try to summarise today but from both ends of the forum spectrum.

Friday - 39 year old Jermain Defoe WOW!!!
Monday - 27 year old Cole Stockton - f**k off Grandad!!!

The board need to back the team and spend big!
SIX f*****g GRAND.......A WEEK???

3pm - Jordan Thorniley is bang average at best
4pm - season over, we're doomed!!!

Hope that helps cut down on some of the reading for those just joining us!

We will be fine for Saturday without any new signings. It’s important we make the right signings over the next week.

Again, I think it's all relevant. He may have been originally asking for £10k, Sunderland offer £8k but he prefers a new challenge with us but doesn't want to drop too far.

All complete speculation and guesswork of course, but it's difficult to judge until the dust settles.
