Spending more than anyone on transfers, a wage budget £10m more than anyone else, and still sitting 4 points behind a fairly average Portsmouth side!

It will take more than Charlie's spin to cover things up if they don't go up in May. Could see Luton and Barnsley being the top 2 and we then know how much of a lottery the playoffs can be.
Based on their finances of course Sunderland should walk the league.
But....it has been a basket case for years and there is some history relating to the squad.

I thought all the parachute payments were going to the previous owner as part the deal for SD to buy the club.
I wonder where they got the idea from for that type of deal?
Thought I read if SD didn't pay then the parachute payments would cover it?

Saturday’s result/performance, and not having a league match next weekend has certainly bought us some time to get the right man in. Only time will tell if we can do so.

Our target Sorensen going to Blackpool.

Time really ticking now.

Others seem to be finding the elusive front man. Difficult to take that he chose Blackpool, or Benitez chose over us.
They do sit higher in the table, so less pressure on that team, allowing him to play in a different atmosphere.

No surprise really. Has lived up north since he came over here. Was never coming south when northern clubs were interested.

They also sit a good deal closer to Newcastle! Players at our level can't always just pack up and move around the country every few months. Sorensen could spend half the week at home and the other half in digs which is far more preferable than moving 300 miles away. As we saw with McMahon and McAleny, location is a massive issue that makes it harder for us to compete with northern teams.

Pretty sure they have a good relationship with Newcastle as well which counts for a lot. Similar to ours with Everton under Appleton.

Sean Longstaff was there on loan last season. Now he’s started last 3 games for the first team.

It’s all relative. We have the advantage on players based in the south. Location is a factor of course but to think we have s disadvantage is narrow minded. We are an hour from London, Midlands and the South coast... lots of teams and lots of players.

Hopefully Sam Sturridge joins - if so our location will have helped for sure.

To be fair, it sounds like Sorensen was never a number 9, which is what we need, and a number 10, which we have plenty of. So, not that bothered he's gone elsewhere

On the RO sports bulletin this morning, Robinson was quoted as saying that Sorensen was never a target.

We. Need. A. Striker.

For the love of god it is not complex & gives the ability to play on different ways..........................................................ohhhh.....
