Current Player Thread Jamie Cumming

Of all the players we need to keep the goalkeeper must be the highest priority, if he goes then it’s obviously going to be a brutal cull and we are doing a Sheffield Wednesday into league two.

Agreed - everywhere else we have at least some options…….not always great ones, but ones that might work out at League One level.

There’s no way we survive a season with what’s left of Simon Eastwood in goal…..

We certainly wouldn’t just ‘let him go’, if we do sell him it’s because the owners have given us no option, and all the other decent players will follow. I’m still holding on to the belief that we won’t.

Whatever our financial problems are 6 months of Eastwood in goal with a youth player as backup is a recipe for proper disaster

It was a random account on X with no credibility and like most rumours people go on and say they’ve heard that it’s happening when it’s just the same bs rumour
Time will tell, saw that bullshit account but wouldn’t surprise me if they were interested as they will have money to spend and he’s well liked there.

If this really “just” a temporary finance problem then you give them a blunt no, say not to bother wasting your time with another offer and tell him he is under contract and staying, even if he sulks for a bit he will get over it, can always go January/next season when we can sign a replacement.

He is definitely the one player whose fate gives us a big clue as to what’s going on.

Indeed.

Time will tell.

Let’s hope we can keep everyone now as we will need to, losing even one of the main side from last year makes us weaker in almost every position.

More then a big clue, if Cumming leaves, then it's clear that it really is all over for us...

It wasn't a random account on X I got it from. As previously said, the chap that told me is an MK Don's fan and said its a rumour he had heard from a few different fans.
He messaged me again last night to say Cumming is keen to return now too.
I really hope its not true, but with Eastwood starting today, its adds fuel to the fire.

Based on what? Since he was last there the management has completely changed, the playing staff is all different and his last action was getting relegated with them from League One. Plus he has no local connection to the area and has no better chance of going up with them than he does sticking with us. You say that it's MK Dons fans, but how do you know that their source isn't that random account from X?

Quite - the day I start believing a rumour because 'some fans from X club say so' is the day I need carting off in a snug jacket for my own protection.

I haven't had the chance to speak to him yet for more or a deep delve, but will try to at some point.
He normally gets fairly good Intel, which is why I shared it on here. Could be nonsense, I certainly hope it is.

Hopefully not true, and I would assume it isn't because the club have made a big deal about saying we're not going to let any players go, so letting go probably the most important player in the squad due to the nature of not having a backup for him would go against everything they've said

At the same time though, everybody shouted down the transfer embargo rumour when it was first mentioned

Cumming has multiple years left on long-term contract. only was he's leaving for a league one side is if we go into administration and can't say no to any offers.

It's hardly surprising that we're looking to give everyone minutes in the first couple of games before building towards a more expected starting XI in the next two games.

Every season people try to read too much into team selection in these early games when they're little more than training games.

All those player on the bench today... must be a sign they're all due to leave the club any day now.

Surprised we`ve got enough left to fill the bench.................. :ROFLMAO: :)

Aside from that......... its how pre-season works especially with a new manager.

Give them all a go, see if the pegs are the same shape as the holes.

I’m baffled that there are such negative posts about players such as Eastwood starting amongst others. We’re under an embargo and are likely to rely on almost everyone since tiredness and injuries will occur to players during the season.

There needs to be more positivity about what Aaron Ramsey is doing with the squad rather than the usual catastrophizing.

Indeed. Like them or not, we have the players we have, and hopefully we won't be losing any of them. As it stands, we can't replace any of them. Not giving them all a run-out in pre-season would be foolish, and especially Easty, seeing as he's not played minutes in forever. One injury or suspension to Cumming, and he gets thrown in the deep end. Rotating keepers in pre-season makes total sense.

Than said, Cumming is my preferred number 1, so I hope Easty doesn't have to play competitive fixtures this season.
