We have a back 5 with only Elliott Moore coming in for a fee of around £250k. Coventry had Ellis Simms, Haji Wright, Jack Rudoni and Sakamoto starting, and brought on Palmer, Mason-Clark and Thomas-Asante costing £20m
Yes, we were on the back foot a lot, but Cumming, Moore and Brown were exceptional, and we tightened up the fullback positions in the second half and were seconds and a mistake away from getting an away point against one of the best teams in the league.
No one is trying to mask any frailties, it's going to be a battle all season. But there more to be positive about than worried right now.

3 points from two games, and a goal difference of +1 - we would all of undoubtably taken that in July! And with the unmentionables from down the A420 are losing 2 nil at home, there is a lot to be happy about so far, although we should never be too complacent/content. As for Cummings - still lots of time to get better, and better.

Based on Ingrams performance the other night I think it’s a while since we’ve had two keepers of this calibre. Cumming is rightly the current number one, he’s there on merit and in fantastic form. If Bolton away was the teams defining moment then it was most definitely Cumming’s - he had an awful night but since has looked a different keeper.

Yes possibly. The fact that he’s ours definitely means that it’s better for us. Brighton calling short his loan was one of those moments where it has actually worked out better in the longer term.

Agree, he was a bit off at Luton, but the first half that end was pretty waterlogged. He certainly gets better game by game, guessed right or read it well for the penalty, but they don’t come any better. Second half that push round the post from the deflection was so critical.

He’s an excellent shot stopper but he takes goal kicks like it’s the 70s … most of them nowhere near our players, and we don’t have any forwards who are good in the air anyway.
Ingram is a shot stopper whose distribution is nothing special though, so just swapping like for like for like.
If you are good at shot stopping and have good distribution you are probably playing in the premier league, Beadle was an exception who will play in the premier league.

I said in the match day thread. His shot stopping is excellent but his distribution is below par for this division and other teams know it now. They press him hard. He rarely finds his man which in turn creates the pressure on the team

He’s been really decent this season. And it’s easy to forget that he’s still a youngster in GK terms, at his first permanent club as a starter and at a higher level than he’s experienced with any consistency. He’s another one in our squad now with serious upward potential
He’s been great, quite a turnaround because he looked decidedly iffy up to and including the 5-0 at Bolton. He’s stepped up as well as anyone to championship football though.

Very good last night, and while I questioned originally if he would make the step up to the Championship, has hardly put a foot wrong this year, and I would go as far as saying he is my Player of the Season so far.

Cumming has been my player of the season so far. His distribution isn't quite up to Beadle standards but it's really not so bad. His handling and positioning have been brilliant. Apart from that fluff against Luton, I can't remember another mistake all season. I know there were doubts that he could step up to Championship (which is why he seemed to be stuck with L1 loans), but he's looked really comfortable. Best permanent (i.e. not a loan) keeper we've had since Phil Whitehead imo.

I think Cumming is my player of the season so far. I know he made a mistake the other week, and his kicking can be wayward, but he has got us so many points over the course of the season.

He’s got my vote. If we had his quality across the whole squad I think we’d be a play-off contender. Best permanent keeper I’ve seen for us since Phil Whitehead and he’s possibly better.
