Ex-Player Thread James Beadle

If Cummings sorts his distribution out, for me, he's a better GK than Beadle.

That 'if' is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Cumming's overall play has improved hugley during his time here and he's still young for a goalkeeper, but I'm not sure I can ever see him zipping 40 yard passes along the ground into a midfielder's feet like Beadle often did.

Beadle definitely wasn't the finished article when he was here, but it was clear he has every attribute to go to the top. I'm not sure the same is true of Cumming.

Beadle is a certainty for England in my mind. He’s Nick Pope but with the added ability to kick a ball around with ease - if you were to try and put a price on that you’d be looking at eye watering numbers.

Good luck to him. Did a great job for us and delighted to see him go further in the game.

Beadle has great presence and physique for a keeper, he's probably got a bit more filling out to do too. Cumming has come on brilliantly with us but not sure he can go as far in the game as Beadle will. We look to have got McGinty wrong but our last three keepers - Beadle, Cumming, Ingram - are testimony to some strong scouting in the goalkeeping department.

Dropped yesterday by Sheffield. Weds.Head Coach Danny Rohl.

Northern Ireland international Pierce Charles, 19 given his debut at Cardiff.

I watched their drubbing by Sweden and was actually quite impressed by him. Definitely a modern type of keeper, has kicking ability particularly impressive. I’d say he’s definitely got that over Beadle, but doesn’t look the biggest.

I was also impressed by his brother Shea Charles in that game, also at Wednesday, on loan from Southampton

Think they’re at a stage now where it makes more sense for them to invest in their own players than keep developing other people’s.

It’s these little quirks that can have big impacts. Wednesday could easily have won the Sheffield derby and picked a totally different team at Cardiff to the one they did.
