The fact we didn’t allow him to play in the FA cup suggests to me that he will be recalled after this weekend and given a full week of training with an eye to starting at Exeter.

Totally agree, but Des decided that Joe Bennett was going to be first choice left back. Bennett then gets injured after Currie has been loaned out to Leyton Orient. Just really bad luck and we only have 25 squad places available.

That was Always the risk I'm afraid.one that didn't pay off

I’d have thought they test Bennett out for three weeks and then make a decision at the end of the month on whether to recall Currie.

Yeah, when the January window closes - which is February 3rd this year.

Still gives us three and a half weeks to make the decision.

I think what @Nadi- means is that there is often a clause written into season long loans that if the parent club wants to call back the loaned player they have to do it by a date earlier in January, for instance the 14th, to avoid leaving the borrowing club high and dry if they recall a player on the last day of the window, thereby leaving them no time to get a replacement.

I believe we've benefitted from this in the past when we've been the borrowing club.

Looks more likely he's going to stay out on loan now, Exeter in the cup would of be his perfect induction to first team football for us, hopefully a decision is made soon.

I also can't recall the player, but I do remember we also had the option of buying out Herbie Kane's recall clause around the same time.

Currie in the Orient team tonight that beat Derby on penalties in the FA Cup to earn a 4th round tie against Man City.

Maybe fate will see us recall him before that game just as we recalled Negru before Salford's 3rd round game against Man City.

He will now remain at Orient till end of this season.
