Not sure that we are entitled to bring him back until Jan 1.
I assume that he will be back after LO game v Cambridge on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays v Exeter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s our starting LB by Preston (I think Millwall would be asking a bit much given that we can’t unilaterally recall him until morning of)

We all love Greg Leigh and he was better yesterday, but he still doesn’t quite look to have a Championship skillset. Currie though may well have…..

Hardly "binned him off", that plank Robinson was such an A*****e and treated him so badly that he wanted away, at almost any cost.

Robinson binned him off then after treating him like s**t, always thought he would have been useful when we were in league one, would have got a few quid back for him as well even if wasn’t good enough for the championship.

Could Bennett play instead? I know he wasn't added to the 25 man squad list submitted to the EFL for the first half of the season but when does that changeover and you can add or remove players before resubmitted the list at the start of February?

With it looking likely that Currie will be competing with Leigh and Bennett for the left back spot come January, I was wondering about our other players out on loan, in particular Negru and O’Donker.

I can see Negru being recalled to go out on loan to a League One club for the rest of the season.

A new manager at Bristol Rovers, so O’Donker’s continued loan there may not be guaranteed.

How much has O Donkorplayed at Bristol Rovers? If it’s not much maybe loan him out at a lower level? League two or back to Barnet who were interested in having him again.

O'Donkor played 1 minute for us off the bench against Norwich in the first game of this season. He's also played for Bristol Rovers, so he can't play for another football league club this season, so if we were to recall him then he'd have to go off to non-league to get game time. That is probably the best idea anyway as he just needs regular minutes. If he can flourish in the conference between January and the end of the season then he could hopefully get a solid league 2 club next season.

We've messed his development right up over the last few seasons, but he's still young-ish.

Forgot about that minute. I agree with you, it’s about game time now not level, even a move to Aldershot, localish, will get games from the start and James Henry is there so would help him out would be good for his career. He doesn’t need to be a sub anywhere now.

There is an argument we messed his development up. However, with any young player who is so physically superior to his peers at that age it's difficult to tell whether they have the technical ability to succeed or whether it's their physicality that is allowing them to look good at youth level. Then everyone catches up. I heard an interview with the Arsenal youth coach. He was saying Saka was physically superior to his peers at youth level and it was not until he was 16/17 that they could tell whether he had the technical ability or not to match.

Currie looked good, works hard and hunts the ball. Has a funny run up for long throw.
Odonkor was Rovers best player.laid one on a plate for Omercher, who fluffed it. had a equaliser ruled out for handball. When looked like Martin was about to tap in .
Perkins done well, laid a good ball off for Galbraiths opener.
Agyie seemed to hurt himself and taken off .

Imagine that, signing him for 250k, selling him for 2.5m …not having played a competitive game for us. Won’t happen will it? He is a top league 1 performer though….

We are crying out for a top-quality left back right now, and we have one in Jack Currie. As much as Greg Leigh is okay, he's not a Championship level full-back. Although Currie has been playing a division below since he arrived at the club, he is one of the standout full-backs in that division. I have absolutely no doubt he can make the step up for us. I cant wait to see him in yellow and blue!

I must admit the jack Currie one did confuse me, he came so highly recommended & highly praised.
I thought he was going to be back up pushing for a first team place .not loaned out.
His rave reviews for orient, the division he's playing in suggests he should be recalled..
Strange one, seeing as it's been a problem position.....

Totally agree, but Des decided that Joe Bennett was going to be first choice left back. Bennett then gets injured after Currie has been loaned out to Leyton Orient. Just really bad luck and we only have 25 squad places available.

I love Greg Leigh. Good bloke and a great athlete who will get up and down the pitch all day. He can deliver a good cross, he's a goal threat and his physicality means he's a decent defender. But there's no doubt that overall, he's pretty poor on the ball at this level.

I definitely would not be looking to discard Leigh any time soon, but I'm looking forward to what Currie can do should we recall him. If there's a concern over squad places then I think Bennett is the most obvious to make way.

There’s 100% a role for Leigh this season, useful as a wing back and can be used as a shield like Ter Avest has done for the past couple of games

Bringing Currie back in would mean another player being integrated back into the club. But with GR now in this would be the best time to do it rather than wait for injuries or a drop off of form from others to happen. It sounds like he is in good form playing a level up from last season so he should be given the chance at the next level up.

If it is true that clubs are watching him then he could be worth a lot more than we paid for him. That value evaporates if we recall him and do not use him or if he plays and doesn’t perform at Championship level.

On the other hand if we recall and he plays really well then we have a massive asset.

I'm biased as I saw him play quite a few times for AFCW (I have AFCW ST friends) and thought he was brilliant- and yes, I know it was L2. I'd be really, really surprised if we don't recall him and put him straight in the starting XI. Greg Leigh is fine as a squad player, but no more imo.
