I don't disagree.

But we had the "budgets being cut" "no one around to do the signings" "agents warning targets off" comments a week ago and the reality appears to be very different with some really strong signings that are not just about throwing money at a s**t or bust approach to staying up, but looking at the long term future of the football club.

We can't ignore some of the background stuff, and we desperately need to develop a more professional Championship standard team off the pitch, but we shouldn't underestimate the importance of acting like a top 30 club on the pitch either.
I do agree that at the same time that the comments were hinted about the late payments re Matete, there were concerning comments about the budget being cut and it being a problem getting players signed off as Williams was away.
This appears to have been nonsesnse and shows how difficult it is for the not ITK people to try and work out what is really going on.
Vaulks suggested that the club were easy to deal with, had a clear budget and moved quickly. From the transfer window so far that appears to be the case ( long may it continue)

Looks like Leigh will be off now with the signing of Bennett and Currie.
Unless we see Greg as a potential threat going forward? He played in front of Bennett a couple of times last season. And it never hurts to have 3 capable players at the club, considering our luck with injuries. Don't forget we had to sign Bennett as a free agent in December for the precise reason!

I don’t think we’ll be going into the Championship with reserve left back Greg Leigh on the wing? I hope not - he overlaps well but seems to do less well when he’s selected in a more advanced position.

Agree. Leigh is not a left winger. Of course he can fill in there if we need to see out a game, but not the intention for a season

This is more what I meant. A utility left-sided player for when we undoubtedly get an injury in either of those positions and need versatile cover on the bench
It depends who we bring in to replace Murphy. We currently have Bennett, Currie, Leigh and Brown who can all play left back.

Long should never be allowed within 20 yards of the touchline. Utterly vulnerable at full back, attacks the ball with conviction when the game is in front of him.

Confused .
Are you saying he should play, but not in defense ?
Sorry if I wasn’t clear.
I meant I don’t want to see him exposed out wide. When the crux of his job is to attack the ball from head on, ie. Centre back, then I think he’s decent.

Glorious. Right in front of us. Clearly took the ball.

Not only did it set the tone for the match, but it got the Peterborough fans whinging about our constant fouling - "Oxford start where they left off at ours".

So sweet :)
Only it wasn't a foul just a very strong challenge
