I don’t think I have ever seen a team play so badly and yet win game 4-2, that game captured everything that is great about football - pure madness

Lol - this Scotland team are the international football team embodiment of the notion that it's better to be lucky than good!
(don't get me wrong - they scored three worldies. But with 10 minutes to go, just before they scored their second, they'd had 1 shot to Denmark's 18! And that's after what was apparently absolute daylight robbery in their home game with Greece)

But glad to see them going back to the World Cup.

Calling it now though......they'll start with a creditable 2-1 defeat to one of the top sides (Spain or France, say). Then they'll play out a scruffy draw with a mediocre side like Japan or Paraguay. And then they'll just need to beat a minnow like Uzbekistan or the Cape Verde Islands in their last match to qualify for the second round for the first time.....and they'll lose 2-0.

Curacao become the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup:

first giving Denmark a questionable penalty (yes, it was a foul, but in the box?!?).
The thing I don't understand is how that penno was given when the ref didn't even give a foul. Seems weird that if it had been outside the box according to VAR it would be play-on rather than a free kick on the edge of the box. Game's gone :)

Huh? That makes no sense . The Scots guy was standing on the line so I guess that’s inside the box ?

Is it where the bloke was standing, or where the contact took place? Either way, from the footage I saw there was no clear reason to give a penalty.

I'd say it was less of a penalty than the one VAR didn't give us at Wembley when Dale was scythed down by their keeper.

I'm sick of hearing and seeing Scotland fans on TV and radio already. It's only a matter of time before they wheel Rod Plastic Jock fucking Stewart out.

Hope they get smashed in every game.
Maybe they should be closed down?

I want them to get over excited, Lewis Capaldi, Rod Stewart and Del Amitri’s World Cup song “this time we are getting out of the group” will be fun to play after Uzbekistan beat them in the first game.

The thing I’m complaining about is the inconsistency that var introduces. In that example, if var inspection had concluded it was outside the box they wouldn’t have declared that it was a free kick (because they don’t do that). Because it was (arguably) in the box, it’s a penalty. It’s like Schroedinger’s foul - neither a foul nor not a foul until var decides if it’s in the box or not.
