Greg Leigh's Jamaica mess up with only a draw this morning and let Curacao go top of the group, they play each other Wednesday morning in Jamaica with the winner qualifying automatically, a draw would pretty much see Jamaica in the inter confederation play offs while a loss would see them looking at results in the other groups as its only two of the three group runners up who go through to the play offs.

CONCACAF Group C went a bit mental - there's a real chance now that Haiti could make the finals for the first time since 1974. Which would be extraordinary given what's going on at home for them. Meanwhile Costa Rica are on the edge of elimination......it's funny how they've managed to turn themselves into a World Cup staple, and it would feel a little odd not having them in the tournament now, especially with the increase to 48 teams (same is true of Cameroon).

Decent chance that the automatic qualifiers out of that region are going to be Suriname, Curacao and Haiti, which would all be pretty fresh names even if in Haiti's case its just been a long time since they last played. I suppose that's the one plus out of the enlarged World Cup, lots of different teams, do feel that it will need them to get a result or two when there to not get a bit dull though.

All the big names.

England look very good ( I appreciate that comfortably beating most teams may not be exciting, but that is not their fault).
One of our problems over the years has been the lack of quality at CB ( Maguire has been a shoe in for years). Now Konsq and Guehi look very good and with Stones around we look good.
Anderson is a teriffic number 6. Positive with the ball , a good tackler and he seems to read the game well. Hopefully he will allow us to keep the ball and control the game better ( critical in the US heat).
Then our attacking options are ridiculous. Rogers has done so well at number 10 ( and Bellingham, Foden were on the bench and Palmer wasn't even in the squad).
An injury to Kane or Pickford are risks, but things are looking pretty good.

We look contenders, the weather might be a bit of a problem but the extra quality we now have plus the fact that the increased numbers, which is going to see a drop in quality, means we might not have to go flat out in every game could help in that respect. Once you get to the quarters/semis it’s obviously pretty tight games but no one I don’t fancy us to be competitive against.

The weather is going to depend hugely on the draw.

End up in Group G (and win it), and you only places you'll play before the final are Seattle & Vancouver (both will be pretty cool and pleasant in June), SoFi stadium in LA which is climate controlled (and also bloody amazing - I went there for a Chargers game earlier this year) and AT&T stadium near Dallas, which is the largest air conditioned space in the world. The only game where you could possibly have problems with the heat is the Final (which is just down the road from me), and even then the weather in New Jersey in mid-July is unpredictable.

End up in Group K (and win it), and you could end up on a decidedly un-fun heat and humidity tour of Mexico City, Zapopan, Miami and Kansas City before you even get to the semis.

But it's worth noting that heat shouldn't be a big factor at more than half of the stadiums (Dallas, LA, Houston & Atlanta have rooves and climate control; Vancouver, Seattle, Toronto, San Francisco & Foxborough should be perfectly pleasant in June and early July). It's just Kansas City, Miami and the Mexican venues that you definitely want to avoid, with Philly and NJ possibly being bad as well.

Divin Mubama who played well against us for Stoke has got lucky to score 1 of his 2 penalties for England u21s Vs Rep.Ireland.

1st penalty was so soft and along the ground that it would have been a shocker by the Keeper not to save it. The 2nd, which he scored, he got lucky that the keeper's hand wasn't strong enough to keep it out as it was higher but still soft.

Not criticising his general performance as the conditions are awful but doesn't excuse the weak penalties.

Croatia qualify, Netherlands virtually qualified, Germany just need to avoid defeat at home to Slovakia and they have qualified. Czech Republic, Poland and Northern Ireland all in the play offs, with Slovakia, unless they win away at Germany joining them.

Strange game as the only real impact it might have is what pot Wales go in for the play offs, Belgium are not going to lose at home to Liechtenstein even if they did mess up earlier today and both Wales and North Macedonia are guaranteed the play offs through the nation league spots if they come third.

This ref in the Scotland-Denmark game is the same guy who did the last World Cup final, right?

He's making a rickets of this game - first giving Denmark a questionable penalty (yes, it was a foul, but in the box?!?).

And then he's sent off the Danish guy for a challenge that wasn't even a foul!

Tell me Mark Harris isn't playing for Wales without telling me Mark Harris isn't playing for Wales.

Wales 5 North Macedonia 1

Scotland doing a good job of making Denmark look like they have 12 players not 10.

Seen Scotland a couple of times in this group and they have not been very good, which makes you wonder if this could be their year as it’s not quality for them to this stage.
