General International Break September 26

I’ve had another email from the club asking me to ignore the one referred to earlier.🙂

It will, but surely for a midweek now? Irritating as this happened about 30 minutes after I bought tickets for be and my son. Could the club not have delayed making tickets available until they knew what was happening?
There has been plenty of discussion on here and the international dates are published way before the start of the season.
I suspect the away tickets factor is based on when Doncaster wanted to make tickets available but you would have thought their would be some common sense applied.

Worth making a note of the other breaks this season, because with the 3 Northern Irish lads plus Harris, you'd think we're going to have all four called up each time. And that's before any of the loanees making their nations unders or Leigh/Kioso getting back in the fold for their teams.
  • International break: Monday, 21 September, 2026 to Tuesday, 6 October, 2026
  • International break: Monday, 9 November to Tuesday, 17 November, 2026
  • International break: Monday, 22 March to Tuesday, 30 March, 2027

Boils my p*ss.

Just six League games across the first two months of the season (with lighter, better conditions) when the likes of January has six scheduled in one (winter) month already - before anything else inevitably gets added.

Bearing in mind that Peterborough away in November will go, as will Orient home and Blackpool away in March - that's a lot of extra rescheduling when we already only have one free midweek before the 8th December.

If we get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup that is Wimbledon home moved too.

That would, before any further postponements for weather (or any more Thursday night nonsense - as per Mansfield away), take us to 16 of 46 League games being played in the evening, midweek, on a school night.

How on earth can this be allowed? Who is looking out for the supporters?
The EFL are trying to help us out by quietly moving as many games as they can until after we are out of embargo 😉

5 games into the new season and been to Grenoble rd once!
Back to back home games and then 4 and a half weeks until the next visit.
Going to be playing Saturday Tuesday for the whole of March and April by look of it!
I’ve gone away for 2 weeks so will
miss the Burton and Cambridge games, but went to the MKDs game on the 15th August. However, my next home game is 20th October, so one game in 9 1/2 weeks, crazy. To think by being away for only 2 weeks from the start of the season to only be able to see 1 game during this period (15th August - 20th October!!) is absolutely crazy!

Will go to the Notts County away game on the 10th October, to get my fix.

Thanks @CaptainOx - appreciated.

I am assuming there are championship games tonight because of the international break scheduled. It’s mad that the EFL pretend that there will be a full fixtures played in league 1 over the international break. It just creates a huge backlog for clubs.

You assume correctly. There are six Championship games tonight. And another three tomorrow.

Why don't they arrange the EFL Vertu/Checkatrade/pizza pot trophy games during the International Break.
The two spare Saturdays would be perfect for the Exeter & Cheltenham games.
Would get a much better crowd than on a Tuesday night.
We probably wouldn't play our international stars in those games anyway.
and it gives more options for rearranging the league games.

I see we have sold half our allocation for the Notts County match immediately after the international break. Only went on sale for season ticket holders at 12 today

First time we have played in Nottingham for ten years and that game against County was the only time we have played either of the two Nottingham teams in the last 20 years, add in its a good city for a day/night out, we are going well and it will be our first game in 3 weeks, first away in 5 weeks then I would expect this one to sell out, its only a 2,000 allocation and not a massive trek.

Reminds me I need to book Hooters for afterwards as well.

I agree. Pick your own seat in operation too. Although that will count for nothing if a sell out probably

Um………because Exeter and Cheltenham will have league fixtures to fulfil on those Saturdays?

I think you have missed the point, make the international break an EFL trophy fixture and have no league games.
I think this is a really good idea, since would help reduce fixture congestion, teams would not mind playing without internationals and would give the fixtures of the trophy a higher profile.
So number of teams with 3 internationals is growing and arranging league 1 games for these weekends doesn’t feel sustainable and think this is a sensible solution.

Like the pre-season idea, it likely wouldn't work unless B teams are no longer involved although there could be scope for EFL club fixtures only in the international weekend if B sides aren't considered for this period. The reason I suspect is most of the B sides in the Abomination Trophy would have plenty of players called up for smaller nations or international age group sides.

Is anyone else bored out of their mind by this extended lack of club football? I reckon all these extended breaks will do is actually turn more people off international football.

EDIT - I've just seen that Ciaran Brown scored twice for NI last night. Fair play to the lad.

I think everyone is bored. I couldn't even care less about the England friendlies, let alone the others. It's such a shame they just get started with the domestic season and then stop it.

Almost every change to football over the last 10 years has been for the worse.

Looking forward to the November break (9th - 17th) at least we should only miss one league game, Peterborough away on Saturday 14th. There is a tintop trophy game at home to Cheltenham on Tuesday 10th but I guess that will go ahead as precedent has been set with the Exeter game.
