I have always been historically very pro migrant/asylum seeker but the system is being absolutely rinsed and I have first hand experience.
My partner is Kenyan. Her brother (Kenyan) paid us a visit and ended up liking the UK so took a job in a car wash. When the net started to close in, he caught a flight to Dublin and bizarrely, claimed asylum. He’s Kenyan btw.
The life he has now is pretty special, each weekend he goes on a different expedition and learns new life skills, accommodation and an allowance, was given a new mobile phone etc.
Very easy to see how someone struggling as a native might feel it’s a bit unfair. Genuinely asylum seekers have my complete sympathy and need support, but the system is just being played now.
