People appear to forget that life is about balance.
It started with blatant, dare I say, Facist racism - signs on pubs "No Blacks, No Irish". Very derogatory language, Moseley, National Front etc etc.
Eventually, through education such blatant racism was outlawed and educated away.
If only that was the case. The reality is that racism has always existed, its just that, for a relatively short period, it because social unacceptable and people didn't openly express their views.
Now social media and some groups have given like minded people the platform to share the same views that was once hidden.
The P*** bashing of the 70's and 80's is now badged as anti-muslim, but the practice and hatred remains the same. I've heard the N word being used aggressively towards black people more in the last couple of years than during the previous 10-15 years. The "go back to where you came from" phrase is used by people from all walks of life, often against people who were born in this country.
About here we should have stopped, point of equilibium.
Then that wasn`t "enough" and you get groups like BLM and the protest groups that spring up everytime a criminal meets a sticky end.
Everytime?
Yes there were BLM protests, but these were 6 years ago. Since then there has been countless protests, demonstrations and disorder from those on the "right".
We also got "positive discrimination" or DEI inclusivity where people score more for skin colour than how they present a CV.
Does this actually happen in any great number? I've run recruitment campaigns and interviewed hundreds of people in thd last 10 years. Never once have I even noticed the ethnicity of someone prior to meeting them, and can honestly say that I've never given a job to anyone who isn't the best.
Of course we see a few jobs which are intended to balance ethnic representation in certain areas, but these are still relatively few and far between.
And now, if you are White, you can not say anything about any subject, be it migration or who lives on your street without some frothing loon shouting "Racism" or "white privelege".
As ever the see saw is tipped too far in the opposing direction of the issue it was created to solve and by doing so it creates the same problem it was trying to fix.
I've listened to, and engaged with plenty of people who have different views on immigration, and I'd never describe the vast majority of them as racist at all.
But to imply that no one holds racist views, or that racism no longer exists, is showing blind ignorance.
