International News Immigration

Maybe it's me, but I thought that standing up to racism is a good thing?
I wonder what you'd call someone who was against standing up to racism? There must be a word for it. Let me think.

Scary this mornings news from Fairord about ,well the news is scarce but sounds like some Iranians have been arrested and the bomb squad involved. Over on the boats ?

Will anyone be surprised when the police give more details? Do you think it's Sven on holiday from Sweden who is objecting to the airbase noise disturbing his Sunday morning church service and decided to commit terrorism?

I’m sure the left will argue that’s racist. It seems these days if you speak out against the numbers coming over or the increase in criminality, some dubious figures get highlighted to prove we’re opposed to the riches of diversity this country will benefit from mass immigration.
Personally I feel this country’s infrastructure has changed radically for the worse.
On a recent visit to Headington, on a long walk, I noticed a large increase in the number of HMOs together with many more cars often double parked with bins everywhere. I hope it’s not suggested I’m racist just for making those observations, which are fact and not fiction.

Out of interest when was the last time you saw/experienced racism in this country?

That is you personally, not an anecdote or a flop piece in the media.

I reckon I would have to go back at least 20+ years or more.*

*No get out clause of "just because you don`t see it doesn`t mean it doesn`t happen".................maybe it just doesnt.

Students. Always has been.

I've seen and heard racism numerous times. I've challenged friends and colleagues because of it. I have had no contact with a family member for several years because of it.

I'd be genuinely amazed if others haven't heard, read or experienced indirect or direct racism.

The fact that you haven't seen this does not surprise me in the least.

The question was.............. "When was the last time?" Yesterday? Last month? 2024?

As for me the odds of seeing/hearing racism at work are about zero, the mix is too eclectic, the education is mandatory and the consequences harsh........ unless its a Hindu fallout when they start throwing caste slurs about. 🤷‍♂️

As for home/social nothing at all since we have lived here.

This is a pathetic post.

The left are masters of standing behind slogans nobody can disagree with "black lives matter" "stand up to racism" and using it to spew their own warped hatred.

It's all very "democratic people's rupublic of Korea"

The far left are everything they accuse others of. Hateful bigoted people.

I don't diary everything so can't give you exact dates, but certainly in the last year.

But then there are none so blind and those who will not see.

I've experienced racism for being white. Many people have.

If you go to a school in London the overwhelmingly likelihood is you will be a minority or in many cases a very small monority.

Things have changed since the 1950s when the virtuesignalling Egg grew up

I have witnessed racism at least 3 times in just the last month and have called it out each time.
In work we had a new Indian General Manager start about 18 months ago and after a few weeks a staff member (white British) said to me, they have learnt that they are a 'bit racist'. I had to explain that being 'a bit racist' is still being a racist!

Have they? I certainly haven't.

Yes. I've given examples in this thread of institutionalised racism against white people.

I've also experienced direct racism for my skin colour. I don't know where you live or went to school but times have changed.

White kids are a minority in most London schools. White people are a minority in many parts of London.

London is one part of the UK though. Chester is largely a white, middle class city and there is certainly an under lying level of racism towards other ethnicity's.

Nowhere anywhere remotely near RAF Fairford looks like that so I’m afraid that X account is about as trustworthy as a pinky promise from Putin.
Fair play. Deleted.

Edit: even though in the wrong location, that video does prove the sheer aggression and vitriol of the far left at least keeps pace with and if not exceeds the supposedly far right mind. The level of hate in their eyes is mind boggling

Respect for holding your hands up on this but, look at that blue sky, how the f is that today, why didn't your BS detector kick in?

To be fair, the weather can be different in different areas of the country!

Unlike Egg, I can admit I'm wrong - but, can we agree on this wider point:

Naming your group something doesn't give you cart blanche to act how you want?

For example, let's say "Patriot Platform" (the balaclava boys) named themselves "Stand up to Rapists"

Now that's something we can all (except the occasional beeb employee) agree on.

However, there's no nuance to it. As covered on here, not everyone on the boats is a rapist. In fact probably a minority are.

It might make them feel like they can behave however they want, but it's not a fair position.

It might make it easy for people who agree with them to say for example "what does opposing standing up to rapists make you?"

It's an obsurd position.

I think we can find agreement on that. A name of an organisation really tells us very little about their motives and values.

There are extremes on both the far left and far right, you just choose to highlight the far left stuff and ignore the far right stuff to suit your argument.

I agree with you. But the mainstream media only likes to focus on the far right.

This country has a serious issue with far left violence and not enough people are talking about it.
