Current Staff If Gary Rowett goes

I wouldn't mind John Terry someone like him would get respect from the players he's had a very successful playing career with lots of top managers. He's desperate to get into management so I think he would have fire in his belly to actually achieve something

Obviously it could be a complete disaster or it could be a real game changer for us

Either way Rowett pack your bags old boy and get out
You'd only get respect for a week or so until the players realise that knowing how to play the game and be an on pitch leader is completely different to managing and organising a team.

He may well have that ability, but he hasn't proven it yet in the game beyond coaching and assistant roles. Given he's signed up to manager in the 'baller league' I would suggest his desperation doesn't apply to being good enough to interview and get jobs and plenty of management roles that have come up since he retired.

That may be due to him waiting until he feels he's ready, but personally I think we'd be foolish to put a completely unproven manager (and I think that's different from someone with 'Championship experience', which I don't think is as important as a lot here do) into a job this difficult.

Mistake was made when allowing someone of Mark Thomas ability to move on.
A director of football/head of recruitment
With management experience, coaching background and an extensive knowledge of scouting both here and abroad was needed.
And we went for the yts option instead of someone like Brian McDermott
Mark Thomas left Derby a month or
Two ago

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the next head coach is very much Thohir’s choice rather than a figure like Rowett and who was head hunted by the Uk based recruitment team.

This in itself would create an interesting dynamic, especially if the new coach had Thohir’s ear and personal support, it would certainly cut out/sideline Williams and Ferguson somewhat.

Interesting times…

Probably worth mentioning that Thohir and JT have met a few times and seem to get on quite well …

I am not defending GR here, he has got to take his share of the blame for what is happening this season. But the management at this club from top to bottom is p**s poor! We are looking like throwing away our championship status because of very poor recruitment in the last two summers. We desperately need a championship standard striker. If it meant busting the bank for 5 or 6 million to get one in, then we should have done it. Pussy footing around is all we did and now we are paying the price. We have been needing a proven striker for years now. Bloody well spend the money and get one. We pissed the money up the wall on Dembele and Romeny, money which could have been used on a striker who gets us goals. If we don't behave like a championship club, we will not be one for much longer. BDK is the one bright spark to come in. Spencer good also, but could the money have been used elsewhere ? Right backs we are not short of. Bloody peed off if we go down the way we look like going. New manager at the very least and if we do go down, let it be all guns blazing and not this rubbish!

We’re mentioning some managers, that are currently having successful spells, in work, like Manning was being mentioned by Bristol City when he was doing well here.
Isn’t it a bit presumptuous and disrespectful to think they’d just want to leave a good situation to come here - to a club in free-fall with no money destined for relegation? We were in utter disbelief at the time; funny how quickly that changes when the boot’s on the other foot.
Imagine it’ll be a manager out of work who wouldn’t mind a shot at Championship football and the chance to be an instant legend.

Zola, at Birmingham comes to mind. Only won two games.

The sort of people that Erik has to be seen to get on with also includes the FIFA President and a certain 25 Amendment bloke - no real recommendation.IMHO.
Add Mr David Beckham, Ronaldinho Gaúcho Plus a few others complete the picture

Mowbray till end of season. Optional years extension in both directions if we stay up (as cover from our part). Meanwhile spend a good amount of time during second half of the season identifying who you want as manager for the next 3-4 years.

We're in a position where we need a firefighter again but then the summer should be enabling a new longer term prospect to hit the ground running.

I think this is the right way to go, should a change be made.In terms of getting a firefighter now and perhaps looking longer term come the summer.

It’s clear that the manager has very little (none in Rowett’s case it would seem) input into transfer dealings, so no need for a manager to have a long lead in time to the summer to assess what he’s got to clear out, or recruit for.

We have the great meeting of minds in the recruitment team to do that work, while Tim enters the wrong formulas on his excel spreadsheet.

I get why people wanted Rowett out, he was the architect of his own downfall, but I can't help thinking we will be in the same position in a years time with Timmy and Granty in charge.
