Dot Counting Home League Attendances 2024/25 - 2nd best season ever

Attendance tracking
It is hard enough trying to keep track of our own games and attendances let alone everyone else's particularly when some match reports either don't give home and away attendance, or are wrong.

Anyway, I think although we could have taken more but for midweek and rearranged games and not taking allocations, it probably applies to every other club and even worse if they have more moved games.

Apart an FA Cup rearrangement for Plymouth, our only away moved league games to a weekday were I think Coventry, Watford and Norwich. Similarly our only moved to 12:30 away were Pompey, Stoke, MiIlwall (New Years Day 1pm) and Cardiff (bank holiday).
Plymouth was re-arranged due to the weather, there was a gale blowing on the original date. Burnley was re-arranged due to the FA Cup.

All of the northern teams benefit from the huge allocations given at both Preston and Burnley, about 5,500 and 7,500 respectively. Added to that some of them are no more than 15/20 minutes apart. We do not have the luxury of either of these things, with our closest game about 50 miles away and none of the southern allocations being above 2,000 (apart from Bristol City, which we sold out, and that's 85 miles away). Even Cardiff is way over 100 miles away.

We would have definitely sold the extra Leeds tickets. We sold out Plymouth, before it was postponed and re-arranged for midweek, midwinter, meaning we took about 1,000 fewer. Same with Burnley, where I think we would have either sold out, or been very close to it, if the original date hadn't been changed. Similarly Coventry on a Saturday, rather than Friday night on Sky, would have been about 1,000 more.

If you factor those four games in then I'd say you could add another 4,000 to our total following, or 175 to the average, putting it at about 1,750. Of course other clubs may be able to say something similar, although I'd be amazed if anyone else turned down extra tickets to a game that never even made general sale???!!!
Blackburn's average home attendance last season was only16,161, but that included the following large attendances v Leeds 21,942, Sunderland 24,961, Burnley 25,909 & Preston 21,392.
So if Colin's estimate that Blackburn's away allocation is 7,500 then their actual home support may only be around 12k.
The attendance v Sheffield Wednesday on Easter Tuesday was 15,575, but there would certainly have been 6k+ of away fans, leaving home crowd less than 10k.

We get a mention in this story about the Europa league final.
I'm sure it will niggle the dot-counters!
What an obscure reference!

Plus, it's wrong, it's too many to fill the Kassam, with our decades of experience, we have a self-imposed reduction of our capacity to make way for copious amounts of netting.

I guess someone has just looked on here https://www.footballgroundmap.com/list/biggest-football-stadiums-in-england
for the largest ground that the number of departing passengers would fill out.

Anyway, what was the original capacity? I thought 12,750? Or 12,500?
And what was our potential capacity last season if all seats and boxes and hospitality sold out?
I believe our highest crowd of last season was the 11,570 vs Burnley when we apparently sent them more tickets than their allocation, and next was 11,567 vs Sheffield Wednesday.

That’s wrong isn’t it? That doesn’t allow for the seats that are unavailable because of the netting.
I bet we are top of the league on that statistic - % of seats unavailable due to netting/segregation/h&s/disabled/front of away end/anything TVP think about etc, etc.

I suppose the problem is where would they find the capacity of the ground for an OUFC fixture? The only stated one is the amount of seats at the Kassam, unless the club puts the actual one there then that’s the one they will use even though it’s not correct in our case.

If we take 11,570 as our "true" capacity, after segregation and all of the other nonsense, then we are at 98.25% and top of that table.

But I don't expect that suits the "Pompey have the best fans in the World" narrative that the media seem to love!
I agree with your assessment .
Re’ Pompey, the owners and CEO had a stadium redevelopment plan- basically to improve fan facilities, maximise capacity and revenues and they’ve delivered on all fronts .
Depending on demand, the away end can now be flexed between away/home fans, with minimal segregation .
I believe this flexibility was mentioned for the Triangle

"Best fans in the world"

Pompey, Newcastle and Man City should all have a fight for that title.

Any clubs fans who appoint themselves as the best fans in the world have some ego, especially relatively successful clubs who are in England, a geographically small, wealthy country with first world (just about) travel infrastructure , mostly mild weather and the best football structure in the world, it’s pretty much a pleasure being a football fan in England, born lucky in that way.
