National Politics 🟢 The Green Party

Typical Green New Age Boat Traveler...
Up & down the canals, rivers & waterways boat after boat of run down boats rusting away, scruffy as hell.
Mummy & daddy's got a Rolls Royce types, living on the Credit Card Daddy give them.
Rats running off the boats as you pass them...
Gone are the days of Rosie & Jim's barges.
All nicely painted,& brass ornaments & flowers painted bucket's. Nice looking & retired People on them .
Hahaha they're supposed to love the countryside??
They've turned it into a s**t hole, looks like something out of Mad Max. NUTTERS...
Your ignorance of the boater community is comical, but it is at least consistent with your nuanced level of understanding more broadly.

When was the last time you went on a cycle ride ,from Sanford on Thames to Thrupp along canals & rivers. I live along the canal, I've got mates that are boating community. I see & know more broadly than you think.

I have to disagree with you a bit on point 3.

Obviously policies are important, but personality is probably equally so, especially in a party leader.

There are clear moments in our recent(ish!) history where the personality of the PM had a bigger effect than their published policies; think Blair, Johnson, Thatcher.
Whilst I think that you’re right, I wish that you weren’t.

Imagine if we could try having a grown-up, sensible, calm, logical political arena for a few years where we didn’t care about personalities and just went on policy and statistical results?

Boredom of no footy kicked in early on this thread!

Doesn't really matter how grown up, sensible, calm or logical it is (and I'd argue that politics requires a degree of passion and conviction in any case, otherwise why are you in politics?). How it all (and what) gets reported is the elephant in the room.

How would you know if your narrow-boat neighbours say they don't have to pay and the council doesn't send you a bill! It sounds to me the Council has questions to answer.
Or he has 🤷

I’m not sure things like transport or taxation policies need to be passionate, just sensible and logical…

And conviction is one thing, but rather than a politician who’s filled with conviction, I’d be happy trying one who was willing to have an evidence-based discussion and go with what seems to be the likely best option…

I agree with you about the reporting though, and that’s my point. Report on how passionate your guy is, how much conviction they have, and the rest is immaterial…

Not really - it continues to show that Polanski is an inveterate liar!

No, it continues to show that you're really triggered by the Green Party. Maybe you'd be better off posting on the Reform thread

Who really gives a f**k? Of all the pointless tweets posted on here, this is the most pointless by far.
If you're out there telling people to vote and how important the democratic process is, at least be bothered to vote yourself. The same people that will defend this will also lay into Nigel Farage for not voting in parliament.

With the news that he is now staying in quite a nice gaff (I have no idea if true), maybe hiding this fact was his motivation behind not registering...

I agree, not voting on a motion vs not voting in an election as to who will represent you, the latter is obviously more critical ;)
There's not point in voting in an election if the elected representative doesn't vote in parliament. So QED the latter is most important.

Did Farage vote in the council elections?
If he didn't, someone on here would be along to tell us how him not voting is orders of magnitude worse than Polanski not voting.

For some reason there can be no equivalence if "your" man is the one who did wrong. You must always back "your" man, regardless of how stupid it makes you look.

We get one vote every four of five years. The elected MP gets to represent tens of thousands of votes hundreds of times over thar same period. Or they don't and show complete contempt for those who voted for them spending their time grifting for themselves. MP votes are far, far more powerful/important.

Edit: not to forget said non-voting grifter spent most of his career banging on about the importance of 'democracy' and 'sovereign'.
