Although we have tailed off after a promising start and 9 game unbeaten run, I still think we have potential to get more than enough points on the board to finish comfortably safe. If we go down then it'll largely be because of the first half of the season and the signings that were made during the summer. Under Des, we only won 3 games yet we achieved that under Rowett in a week plus more. I am slightly concerned with our recent form though and approach to matches but no other manager would be able to do any better with what we've got.

Sacking him either way isn't really an option especially for our reputation or finances.
FWIW I support GR and believe he’s done an overall fine job and should stay regardless of where we are in the league table come May.

But I’ve got 2 observations: GR’s CV shows he has repeatedly improved underperforming teams before levelling off and moving on/getting sacked. Maybe Stoke excepted. I suppose that’s the lifecycle of a football manager though. My slight concern is that he may already have levelled off. I hope I’m wrong.

Secondly, on your point “Sacking him either way isn't really an option especially for our reputation or finances” - I think we saw a certain ruthless approach from our owners when they dispensed with Des. Seemingly no concern about how the club was perceived, fans’ feedback or the cost. Just a single desire to stay in the division. I have no doubt that if the owners thought the time was right they’d get the P45 headed paper out of their desk drawer again.

Be interesting to see when the season ticket renewal comes out how many will want to watch Rowett ball next season regardless of what division we are playing in.
Don't most supporters support the club ?
I would be amazed if we stay up, whether there would be much of a change in ST sales.
I rate Oxford fans as generally pretty loyal

If you went during the Patterson season in the conference, the season we got smashed in the third division, the season we got relegated to the conference etc it would be a bit strange to stop going if we stay up, you have definitely seen worse.

I honestly don't get all this criticism of 'Rowett-ball'. I think overall he's done a pretty good job so far. You can only work with what you've got. And he's got a squad of 25, of whom 15 really aren't good enough for the Championship. I've found his football a bit dull at times, but mostly I've enjoyed it. I can tell you the manager whose football I found really, really boring. Manning. It may have been effective but jeez it was dull. Endless dreary tip tap from side to side. Rowett will stay anyway, regardless of which division we're in next season.

Can't say I agree with you.

Out of our 3 recent managers, football under Rowett has been the most dull. I'd prefer watching players pass to each other under Manning instead of misplacing passes all the time under Rowett due to misunderstanding of positioning.
