Some bizarre comments about GR recently
Today the set up was spot on ( and he explained well why he picked Harris- not to try and get sacked ??)
The intensity throughout the game was amazing.
The substitutions were spot on.
Teriffic performance against a very good side.

Oh and the fans were brilliant and mainly behind GR

Lovely piece of humble pie in the oven. Anyone fancy a slice?.

Doesn’t change how s**t the game against Norwich was

But tonight couldn’t have been more polar opposite.

My second and probably final away game next Saturday - better be worth it. Tonight’s performance please

Mmm.
We have 5 points from 3 games. A very good week.
Yes we were very poor v Norwich, but the point was massive ( we are now 8 points clear of them).
We are playing against teams that have spent TEN times + more than we have
I am.afraid that if you want us to play well every game in the championship, you will need disappointed
Staying up will be a decent achievement

I don't know if it got mentioned but there was some heckling in the south stand early in the game today. Rowett turned round and yelled 'shut the f**k up' at the hecklers. And then we scored soon after.

Also the same ballboy that Rowett was cursing last game gave us one of the best moments at the end of the game, when an Ipswich player was screaming for the ball to take a quick throw, the ballboy just gently rolled it not even close to the player. I swear the south stand cheered him for that. Good work kid.

Love you Kip! Keep predicting that we will never get out of the bottom 3 and are 'definitely down'.
I will hate it when you predict wins and a decent finish 🫣
I don’t get me wrong, we are still going down. We just don’t have anywhere near the consistent squad quality thanks to a loss of interest this summer.

But Rowett gives us the very best chance.

Mr Thohir was at the game tonight like he was also for the Millwall and Stoke home games. Perhaps now he is the majority owner and it's mostly his money being used he is keeping an eye on day to day running by tim nice but dim who f**ked up the budget causing a u turn in the summer.

We only used to see the oversee owners at the game once or twice a season but that's now 3 out of the last 4 home games.

It’s almost like he knows what he is doing! Maybe some should have more trust in him.

You don't need to childishly exclaim points like this.

Lots of posters including myself that have rightfully criticised Rowett recently have also praised him heavily after Ipswich. Not everyone on here should have to feel excruciatingly positive every day while supporting OUFC, since we go through lots of ups and downs and that impacts our emotions and opinions. Your discomfort around any ounce of negativity is as bad as Scotchegg.

Gary Rowett is a miracle worker. Let’s stop this myth that he was well supported this summer.

Although worth pointing out that Ipswich did bring in £79m in player sales this summer.
In terms of net spend, we were more than £25m ahead of them! (and Wrexham were almost certainly #1 by a country mile)

(n.b. this is not me suggesting that we have the resources that Ipswich do.....obviously we do not.......just pointing out that this is a really meaningless statistic without any context)

Some of the comments about Rowett this week were just pathetic. We got a fair few scrappy away points last season against teams around us who might have been there for the taking - Plymouth (bottom), Derby, Cardiff, Stoke, Luton, Preston, six absolutely vital points. Some of the performances were no better than Norwich in the week and some of them came in the middle of that 12 or 13 game winless run we went on. There was nothing like the fall out there’s been this week, more a gratefulness for a hard earned away point.

It’s without doubt misplaced complacency amongst some fans. Norwich in the week was a very decent point at the time and it looks an even better point now it’s sandwiched between four points from two teams in the top four. Rowett continues to do an outstanding job here and it’s years since I’ve seen an Oxford team as generally organised as we have been in the Rowett era. Very rarely battered and in with a chance of something in virtually every game.

I don’t think it’s exaggerating to say last night might have been one of Rowett’s finest in the Oxford dug out, all things considered. Rowett won’t be here forever, there will be a natural parting of the ways when our board feel we ‘belong’ in the Championship but there’s probably none better than the current incumbent to get us to that point.

Was surprised at Rowett’s reaction to be honest, made him look like a manager under pressure.

last night was clearly a massive game for him and the players.

Not aged well this
Disagree. I don't think there's anything controversial about what I said before.

Absolutely delighted with last night's performance and I've given massive credit to Rowett and said that's him at his best. I don't expect that level every week because it's not sustainable but it's been a long time since we've played that well. His subs were well timed and made a difference and we were able to ride out periods of pressure and come out the other side, it was a superb managerial performance and well as brilliant from the players.

That doesn't invalidate what I said before and I'm not hoping Rowett fails, I'd love to see more of that and just as importantly see him backed properly in January. Quoting this after an excellent performance isn't the gotcha you seem to think it is. Similar to people being disappointed Harris started last night, and I was one of them, his first goal for 33 games doesn't mean they were wrong to think that.

Probably more to do with the players hearing it which is exactly what you don't want during the game or to distract GR's concentration to be fair.

The reaction was justified and even more ridiculous when people get precious when he gives some back

Agree with this. Not just in football but in life in general. If you dish it out - and I have no problem with those who do (myself included sometimes) - then don’t get all precious and reactive when you get a verbal volley right back. Nothing worse than a gobshite who can’t take a dose of his own medicine.

It’s a fair point. One in 33 is indeed only a tiny fraction better than 0 in 33. Harris isn’t the answer, we all know that, but if you go by the tried and trusted footballing mantra of one game at a time then credit where credits due, he did well.

If we win I don’t mind if Rowett phones me every day to tell me to f**k off, well worth it.

Of course he is under pressure, his job is to keep us up and improve the squad at the same time.

There was more fight last night from the man himself and his players and please let it continue.

Last EVER away game? Are you expecting a custodial sentence?! 👀😆

Not Rowetts biggest fan but gotta give him credit for last night. Hope he can get that kind of performance out of them more often than not.
