Thoughts on Gary Rowett

  • We need a change ASAP

  • Give him the next 3-5 games to get 2/3 wins and warrants getting the Jan window

  • Give him January regardless, re-assess at the end of February once new recruits settle in.

  • Give him 'til the end of the season regardless. He's the best man for the job.

never mind GR being paraded around on a soft toy lion- when the new stadium opens, lets have an angry ox rodeo as half time entertainment...

I like this idea, we need to get that Paulinho hatchet man to do the bull riding at half time on match days

Millwall fans may disagree that he overachieved with them but that's because they're delusional, they're a very small fish in the Championship and he turned them into a club you never really associate with relegation.

Great manager for a club of our current size at this level.

Gary is an experienced manager after being an experienced pro. I feel he needs to be given carte blance here.

His playing and managerial career to date suggests to me he should be trusted to pick his backroom staff including head of recruitment, the preseason friendlies etc etc. The board should be listening more to him..

There are too many amateurs without a proven track record in the game making decisions currently.

This is the beauty of opinions, I listened to the interview and couldn’t see what the fuss was about.
Pre season hasn’t gone entirely to plan but not many pre seasons do. I certainly don’t think GR came across as negative as many are saying he did.
He certainly didn’t say that he ‘absolutely hates that we went to Indonesia’.

Ok so we're all talking about Shemmy, Lankshear, BDK, Spence, etc...

However I think the tactician general needs praise.

In no game this season have we been destroyed by a better team - even Brighton their goalie beat the record for the most saves by a winning goalie in 18 mths.

He's clever although he didn't get everything he wanted in the summer - who does at Xmas. He plays the cards he has very well. Players know what he wants! He's level headed and I think even if we were top by 12 PTS he'd be the same.

My partner's son is Soton ST holder at start of season Still was new Messiah, now it's sack him the view is he's got 70 million of his players and they aren't doing it- glad GR doesn't create this for us.

GR thanks for coming here, being the low profile understated manager you are. And hopefully if bigger clubs come knocking you stay with us.

Finally I hope the club at some point give him the increased reward he is due.

At the start of the season in.my thread top/bottom I put us as a dark horse for the playoffs I'm still of that view.

Teriffic appointment.
After the first 5 games, and looking at the table the morning of the Bristol City game, I was far less concerned because we have GR in our corner.
Last season in away games we tried to gang on in there because we had a decent degence, but were not good enough going forwards.
Now, with far better attacking options, certainly based on yesterday, we play a far more progressive type of football, create a lot more and gave Bristol a lot of problems.
I love the way that he never panics, and always seems to be in control

Our best signing.

I like the way he talks about games. Lucid, identifies the areas where it went well and where improvement is needed, talks about his changes and why he makes them (without giving too much way) and doesn't go in too hard on variables that he can't control like referees and match conditions.

He's a decent professional who looks at games pragmatically. As Kip says above, he's exactly what we need right now.

I feel he's been overly pragmatic at times and we could have gained points rather than none at all, however yesterday was our best performance under him and you could see how well coached the players were.

I appreciate that the unorthodox preseason didn't help us during our opening games but now we're seeing the potential of the squad, with some excellent signings that he is working with, and I believe we can continue to develop some consistency following the result yesterday.

If a basket case big club in this division comes in for him (and there’s often a few) could he be tempted?
