Pretty close to one year in the job, which in most jobs is a short time but as a championship manager is a decent stint.
He had run out of ideas and sounded like he wanted out, so for the best. Not a man you love or hate and only here a year so not the most emotional of farewells, did always feel as if it was very much just a job he was passing through. But we always have last season when we stayed up so wasn't always bad.
Interesting thing is who is next? Another firefighter or someone with a more long term goal? I haven't got a clue which direction we will go let alone who, but you hope its going to be quick, be painful if its a repeat of the Manning wait at this level, can see a few tonkings if that happens.
Shorts 4th spell as caretaker manager now, he must be close to passing Waddock in games managed despite Waddock being an actual manager here. Will it be the Short who inspired us to a 3-2 away win at Leyton Orient or the one who saw us get destroyed to a Leeds team playing at a canter a year ago?
Never boring though is it.
