Just a thought. Does anyone else think the up turn in our form might coincide with his appointment?? Just seems that since his appointment we’ve looked very good.

Doesn't make him a great coach, but he was a fabulous player. Attacking with flow and imagination.

Our up turn in form could also be connected to the fact that we've been playing worse (or in the case of West Ham, disinterested) teams?

I mean in our first seven games, we played six against the current top eight sides. The only exception being Burton, who worked exceptionally hard on the day.

In September, we've been playing bad sides - and crushing them.

Which is not to say that we're not a good side - we can certainly play. Just that there's other teams in the division that can play as well, and we had to face them all in a row to start the season...…..

It's probably a combination of a lot of things. There is a post on twitter showing the team in training, preparing for Accrington, Garry Parker is pictured, so he is making a contribution.

No, the up turn in form is because the players now run their own training sessions, pick what formation to play and then Mous and Mackie pick the starting 11 each week. That’s why we have started winning games.

Hahaha!!! No, it really isn't right!

Should have quoted me in the other thread we were talking about this. I dont know who your source is but if they're telling you that it was Robinson who out of the blue decided to change formation from his beloved 4231 to the new set up we've been playing, they're wrong.

I don't post much about internal goings on at the club that I hear about from time to time and I dont want to appear arrogant or another "OMg guYs lIsTen 2 me I'm ITk", the team spoke to Robinson and he agreed to change formation. I'm not being negative, I'm not dismissing the club or Robinson, I'm just passing on what I know to be true because it's the players that deserve the credit for taking it upon themselves to do so. Similarly, credit to Robinson for going with it, continuing to play it and making it work.

Back on topic, Parker appears to have a real respect behind the scenes (and rightly so), but with the upward curve we are on at the minute I imagine it's a combination of the good work we're doing behind the scenes from the board at the top to the numerous scouts that we've funded to regularly attend youth football matches in Oxfordshire and further afield.

I wouldn’t worry about the poster who is clearly giving you grief about what you say. They spent ages chasing me around and screaming at me for months, and trying to convince anyone who would listen that a conversation I had with Karl Robinson, Chris Williams and Joe Nicholls, in the manager’s office at the training ground at around midday on Friday, September 21 of last year, didn’t happen. You won’t get any sense out of them and you’ll be met with nothing but aggression, combativeness and possibly even outright abuse if you’re too well informed or can back up anything you say what so ever, so I wouldn’t even bother trying to justify yourself. Most people on this forum are quite reasonable and believe in reality and debate; the one you’re engaging is a lost cause.

Whatever has gone on lately, it’s been night and day and a joy to watch in recent fixtures. Can’t wait for Accy this Saturday - hopeful of another good win! If Parker has had an effect and provided us with a bit more depth and knowledge going into games, that’s great.

I guess Niall has to de-stress somehow ;)
I joke - more than happy to engage in a debate but facts are facts and ignorance is bliss. Never had a problem with Scotchers before and honestly love his passion and loyalty to the club but KR is not infallible and I'm just glad he wasnt stubborn enough to act as if he was or we wouldn't be looking at the table with yellow tinted specs on right now.

Definitely, nice to see Tiger mention some of the backroom staff in his iFollow video and Zaki again today on the FF. Really good vibes coming out of the club in the last few interviews. Cant wait for Accy, not looking forward to that terrace in the rain so much. Let's hope Parker hasnt been reading this thread too much and has them sussed so we can do a job on them.

No....but Garry Parker is doing a stand-up job :ROFLMAO:

Marginal gains and all that....it's all part of the overall package. All of it needs to fall into place for it to work well and at present all of it is working pretty well, from tactics, to formation, to selection, to fitness, to preparation and gameplan, to a little bit of luck(mostly) with injuries.

And it has happened at a very important time, right in the full gaze of those backing the club. It has possibly ignited their passion/whet their appetite for what this team can achieve this season and not just the long term aim of greater stability (which is noble in it's own right of course).

The change of formation at Lincoln was done to neutralise their style of play. In the games since, we've been moved between formations at times - from what I could see, the 2 holders in midfield appeared at times on Saturday depending on what Gillingham did.

The last 3 games have been beautiful to watch the freedom the players have on the pitch. That fluid rotation between front 3/4 is so instrumental at the minute.

Well this supporter think this player -led tactical revolution idea is a load of old toot.

Personally don’t think there has been any significant change in formation since Sunderland. We are playing with a lot more strength and speed though.

The front four have been ‘interchanging’ all season.

We are also defending set pieces excellently now.

Football is a game of opinions but there’s definitely, definitely been a (slight) change in formation in my mind.

Woodburn is the clearest example of this - previously he was definitely playing in a 10 role behind the striker. He’d stay very central, and very high up the pitch. Gorrin would sit deep (as he is still now) and the other midfielder would be quite deep/central as well.

Now, Gorrin still sits deep and central but Woodburn is much deeper and operates in more of a 2 with the other midfielder.

Cadden also gets forward less and the wide men are slightly higher, but I’m not sure if that’s an actual formation change or just different in how we’re playing.

To be pedantic I’d say it was a 4-1-1-3-1 and it’s now more a 4-1-2-3

I would say that there have been tweaks particularly in relation to Woodburn dropping deeper.
I really dont get this 4 3 3 we are supposed to be playing though.
It is far more fluid than that with Fosu and Henry winning tackles in our own area and Henry popping up in the left side of the box to head in.
Taylor is clearly the striker but behind him there is a lot more fluidity.
As PRB also said we seem far more solid from set pieces as well
