General Future of the Kassam Stadium?

post it here then please!

"Planning permission will be granted for residential development, public open space and replacement community and/or sport and leisure facilities, and for commercial uses within the existing area of the Ozone Leisure Park only, on the Kassam Stadium and Ozone Leisure Park site. The football stadium should remain (unless it has been replaced elsewhere in Oxford or in proximity to Oxford). If the Kassam Stadium is replaced elsewhere and that part of the site becomes available for development, the minimum number of homes to be delivered is 275. Other complementary uses will be considered on their merits"

Unless oufc has a site for its stadium, I'm not sure OCC will grant planning. I'm sure sports England will have a say in this too.

I'm not convinced we will be out in 26.

Didn’t Us fans obtain a covenant type thingy years ago so the Kasstad can only be used for football? Presumably that can be ripped up when we leave or is it more complex?

No, that was an ACV (Asset of Community Value), which basically would have given notice had Kassam wanted to sell.

There can’t be many clubs that have had 3 or 4 stadiums/Grounds in such a short time period.

Coventry 4
Brighton 4
Wimbledon 4
Rotherham 3
Bristol Rovers 3
Charlton?

Can’t think of any others.

Newport maybe?

Gateshead had one season where they toured the north east.

To put it another way, is there a purpose-built stadium that had a shorter lifespan than the kassam's (hopefully) 25 years?

What a crap piece of infrastructure. Ironically if they ever build that rail spur down to the science park it would start to look like a pretty great spot for a stadium, with the addition of maybe another access route for the car park.

It should be converted to a retirement home for fosb members.
Best not. I think the realisation that local Blackbird Leys residents aren't all racist football hooligans might give them all heart attacks.

Its on the City Council plan for housing. FoSB have tried to get it removed from the City Council's housing plan.

Getting it removed from the local plan for housing won't mean we get to continue to play at the Kassam. The covenant on the land ends in October 2026 and beyond that date will be a brownfield site and Kassam can develop it into whatever the hell he wants. He's already developing the Ozone with the old bingo hall being knocked down to make way for a new laboratory.

If it won't be homes it will be offices, factories.

FOSB need to do some research and actually take in the information in front of them rather than kidding themselves.

Documentary evidence that proves FOSB know why we have to move.
