Findlay had been at Newcastle but I don’t think he ever actually played for them?

The idea of Findlay in the premier league is a bit bewildering, miles away from that level.
 
I cannot honestly say that I remember him from our games against Peterborough. As a central defender, that may be good or bad! It seems very much like a 'League 1' signing rather than a 'strengthening the side for another crack at the Championship' one - but as ever as you can't make a real judgement until you see him (and the team as a whole) play.

Will be concerned if our transfer strategy is solely to pick up ageing players with L1 experience, but hopefully that won't be the case.
 
A little bit of innocent banter is good for threads , lighthearted and sometimes very funny .
The serious side starts when we play our first competitive match 😜😜😂
 
Can anyone think of a previous player called Frankie before? I have had a think and cannot recall a player with that name.
 
I am slightly concerned that we've signed someone that I expect won't have much scope for improvement. I hope he 'does a job' for us, and I guess he could be a useful squad player. Strategically I would have thought we would be looking at early to mid 20's though. Will be interesting to see the profile of our other signings.

I have no problem if some of the signings we make are to do the job this season rather than for the future. Within the finance system this is our most advantageous opportunity.

We have players who can be an asset for the future in the likes of Mills, Spencer, Goodrham etc that fit that bill.

Sometimes signing a player to do a job immediately is needed over a development project, for example Steve Foster and Steve Perryman. But we've got to get the balance right.

Findlay also joined us when we were a shambles and Robinson was losing control. He had come to us having been a bit part player in America and then he had a hard time properly settling, which also wouldn't have helped. It's entirely possible that he's progressed over the last 3 seasons after getting settled and playing consistent minutes.

Like you, I take a lot of comfort in the fact that Kent has form in this league. He's 30 with good experience and in a position where we lack cover. It's not the most exciting signing but it makes perfect sense.

Players named Frankie are few and far between in British football. There was a ‘keeper on Bristol City’s books called Frankie Fielding in recent years and back in the day there was a striker who played for Luton, Oldham and Hull called Frankie Bunn.

Plenty of Belgian footballers were/are called Frankie of Franky including Franky Van Der Elst and Franky Vercauteren which is a shorted name for Francois

Helik is a similar age? Hopefully we will look to get a younger centre back at some point too

Frankie Worthington was one of the greatest English players of all time

He was never referred to as Frankie Worthington ! Nor was Frank Sinclair ever called Frankie of course Frank Lampard was sometimes known as Frankie Lampard.
 
Seems an OK signing.But i feel we should be looking at younger players we can develope ready for the championship. He could make a good squad player though when the going gets tough.

He absolutely was referred to as Frankie, certainly when he was at Leicester

Ordinarily, it would be a hard agree from me.

But if we are to make a quick Championship return we surely don't want to be lumbered with too many players who won't be able to make the step up.

So whilst there may be a good number of decent L1 options within our decent budget, we must surely be careful not to dish out any 2+ year contracts for players who we don't realistically see as long-term options.

We have a chance for a bit of a re-set here - we can use the bones of a really good squad and supplement with more young, hungry players ready to help us now and also going forward (more of the likes of Mills, Currie, Spencer).

But I'm still a little nervous of tieing ourselves into more lucrative contracts for players who are 30+ and could well be surplus to requirements in twelve months.

Frannie Green and Frank Ramshaw?
And we were said to have been very interested in signing Frankie Bennett from Southampton but he went to the Gas instead.

Perryman absolute class and a gentleman.
Foster way overpaid 4.5k per week (whats that now?) panic buy. He was awful for us, an oppinion shared my most I recall. I hope Frankie does well, he'll give 100 thats for sure.
