.....very healthy bank balance though, Id guess?Totally wasting away at Brentford.
I’d rather play football......very healthy bank balance though, Id guess?![]()
Of course, but it’s looking unlikely he was going to have a long career whenever he played, so he’s fortunate at least to have got a big money move while he couldI’d rather play football.
Hopefully not crippled and career stunted at 22.....very healthy bank balance though, Id guess?![]()
The timing was utterly horrific, and if we hadn't done it - or if we'd done it sooner so that KR could have brought in another replacement - then we might just have secured the extra two points last season that would have saved us from ballsing up promotion at Wembley........
......but it may well turn out that we made good money in that deal.
There's sadly some players who are extremely talented, but are never able to make the proper use of those talents because they're just too brittle.
I think the senior squad limits have probably put paid to signings like that of Thorne in the future. It's one thing (if a club can afford it) to sign a player as a bit of a punt when you can have as many senior players as you want and you can give a player a 'get paid as you play' contract. Now that is potentially a waste of one of your 22 places (that's just 20 next season). We did have a replacement on our books for most of last season who could have stepped into the Baptiste role ...
Sadly George Thorne really was being held together by splints and sellotape. If we could have extracted a few more games from him with his obvious talent, who knows where we could have ended up.
