Travel Football Special Bus (OX2/OX3/OX7)

Clearly football supporters who try and help the environment by taking public transport, are not working people.

Some are working people and some aren't!

Working people who will be affected are those who travel over a certain distance by bus to work, like my missus. She'll be paying £10 extra a week, or £390 extra a year (and that's only because she's a term time only, it would be even more for most professions).

The government have raised the fare cap to £3 one way meaning a return to the Kassam now may cost £6 if the bus companies involved decide to charge the maximum permissible fare.

BBC News - Bus fares to rise to £3 in England under new cap - BBC News
No they haven't. The cap was temporary and was only funded up until December 2024. It was Tory pre-election bribe. If Labour adopt the Tory budget there cap will disappear completely.

Pre election bribe ?😂. It’s been in place two years. Assume you had inside knowledge that the tories would not renew after January 2025 should they have been re-elected. You seem to be clutching at more straws as the weeks of this shamble outfit pass by.

If they really believed in it would have been budgeted for in every year of their five year forecast. That's how it works.

Can we keep the chat in here about the OX football special buses please? If you want to debate politics, go and read about the new Labour policy for buses, which will lift the ban on local authorities running bus services and allow LAs to set routes and fares: https://assets.publishing.service.g...5_Opposition_Costing_-_Bus_service_reform.pdf

The Tory price cap is a direct subsidy from Government to privately owned bus companies and was always a short-term sticking plaster.

Labour's policy may or may not result in lower fares in the longer term, but taking the profit motive out of bus services should in theory be a good thing. Any further debate in here I suppose: https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/sir-keir-starmer.4249/unread
