Travel Football Special Bus (OX2/OX3/OX7)

Can anyone confirm if the OX5 Bicester bus is running today? It’s not mentioned in the club comms about buses.
The Oxfordshire Bus Company online timetables say it’s not running today, but there’s a press release on the website from November saying they *are* running.
If I were a gambling man, I’d say it looks like they’re on, but I’d rather not find out for sure while I’m waiting outside Sainsbury’s at 1 for a bus that doesn’t show up 😂😂

@OUSP

The row of Double Decker buses continue to cause a chaotic lengthy delay to exiting the East Stand carpark and a danger to fans on foot trying to access the buses.

What was once a reasonably quick getaway for supporters (who arrive 2 hours before kickoff to get a space) is now a frustratingly slow getaway.

I wonder who at the club came up with this brainwave? I’d love to know.

Once again as we’ve sadly come to expect, a lack of consideration to longstanding supporters and poor communication.

The matchday experience at the Kassam is one of the worst in the country and we have to put up with it every other week, the club in their wisdom decide to make it even worse. Thanks OUFC.

Adequate stewarding today ensured no issues for pedestrians crossing the line of traffic at the first car park exit

Why deliberately create a situation which is dangerous for supporters on foot trying to access buses?
Logical solution is to keep the cars parked until the busses have gone. At a guess your real issue is it takes you longer to leave the car park now.

As I explained earlier it’s two fold.

Firstly it’s very annoying to having to arrive two hours before kickoff to get a car parking space in the EastStand carpark, but that was previously something I could accept if it meant the carpark exited quickly.

Clearly that’s now not the case, the goal post have been moved. The Kassam matchday experience is poor, it just got worse. I’ve been following the club since 1972/73 and I do find myself wondering if the hassle is really worth for 90 minutes of football.

No forewarning from the club of the new delays, no communication.

Secondly it looks and feels a more dangerous situation than it was previously now that we have a surge of supporters on foot who are trying to access the busses. Just my opinion, others will think it’s not an issue.

There’s little point in repeating myself, so I’ll leave at that.

Why are people arriving two hours early to get a parking space? You must be able to find somewhere half an hours walk or bus away that would let you arrive at 2

I think the point is being missed here.

It shouldn’t take much for the club to communicate to fans that there will be a delay getting out of the east stand car park due to buses and come up with a process that fans who park in that area, are aware of the situation after the game?

There has been comms regarding this for the last few home games. My understanding, and the observations of others, is that there is a pretty good balance between the needs of car users and pedestrians. There is always a blockage getting out on to the Grenoble Rd, so when cars start backing up, the traffic management teams, use this as an opportunity to move pedestrians through. When it clears they allow several vehicles to move and repeat until the area is clear.

I'm not saying that this is perfect, and there may be some that experience slight delays, or the frustrations of being held back. But ultimately, this is about ensuring that 11,000 supporters can leave the stadium safely, whether in cars, buses or walking.

They released a statement end of November informing a change of bus drop off and pick up. No points being missed, users of the east stand car park are disgruntled that it's taking longer to get out after a game. The joys of bigger attendances!

That is not the case! Stewards prevent any traffic movement and when they move pedestrians are blocking the road exit anyway (they need to get to buses). Yesterday there were more cases parked in random places and I saw 2. Ery very close incidents between cars and pedestrians. Anybody who thinks this is a good idea should go and see it.
And yes it is frustrating when it takes another 45 mins to get home on top of a lengthy journey when historically you have as others have said got there early so you can get out in reasonable time.
Trust me there will be an accident if they persist with this madness and it concerns me that an OUSP member has such an ill informed view.
I repeat there will be an accident with this scheme and I would expect people to take that seriously

If no other solution can be found( for the buses ) ,it looks like it might be best to halt all car movements for 20 mins

OUSP look to canvas views from all involved and members of the Panel have been in attendance to observe proceedings too. That's not to discount your experience, and I have ensured that your views make up part of our wider review of the process. So I'm not sure that it's fair to label our view as ill informed.

I feel the best place to line up the buses is by the infamous fence.
It would give much more space for supporters to get on the buses.
There is an easy exit route out of the car park, on that straight bit of road, which the stewards could easily clear when the buses are ready to leave.
This space gives the club a real opportunity of expanding the bus facility. With 10,000 home supporters surely there is the demand for say 20 buses. If there is not the demand then god help us at the new stadium.
Downside is you lose some car park spaces, but that is probably only 4 cars for each bus space but surely that is worth it.

Ar Leeds the organisation was first class, not only for our 4 coaches to get away quickly when ready ,but i believe other fans of both clubs as well and that was with 36600 not jusr 11000. A lot to learn when the new stadium arrives.

Name it and we’ll claim it

There are loads of places, Grenoble road parking spaces, blackbird leys and Littlemore (areas outside the permit area), Sanford on Thames. You could also park on a side street off one of the bus routes that serve the stadium.

I leave Abingdon at 13.40 and park in Littlemore and walk to the ground that takes around 10 - 15 minutes. I can watch the game until the finish, walk back to the car and then have a nice drive home and back home around 17.30 like yesterday.

I get this option isn't available to everyone especially those who can't walk very far but alot of our fanbase will need to change their routine when we move to the new ground anyways.

Before any FOSB muppets start quoting me, there is nothing saying I can't park on a side road that has no yellow lines or within a parking permit area. As long as you do not obstruct drop kerbs or pavements it's fair game as residents do not own the road outside their home.

I would also like to mention that when we move to the new stadium it opens up the possibility of me boarding a train at either Culham or Radley and getting a train to the ground which will be way faster than driving and finding a parking spot in the picturesque village of Kidlington.

the buses are not allowed to use the car park - only away fans coaches .
The London Road travel club coaches are not allowed either- it’s chaos when we have more than 2 coaches .
