So it’s happened.

Mo Salah is put through 30 yards out and runs in on goal. Rui Patricio does his best to make the save and in doing so it looks like Salah’s knee clashes with his head.

Salah scores and then the flag goes up. Rui Patricio lies still, over 10 minutes of treatment and he’s stretchered off. Sky not showing the replays which tells you it isn’t pretty.

No blame on the linesman or Salah. Plenty of blame on the lawmakers - shame on you, it was obvious this would happen eventually.

If the linesman raises his flag when Salah receives the ball, this injury is unlikely to happen. Lawmakers - learn from this.

Hope it isn’t too serious.

"Concussion, when it's something so serious, you always get worried," added Nuno.

"It can happen in football. He's OK. We have to be aware of the right measures. He's in good hands."

When asked about the offside flag staying down, Nuno said "the law is clear".

He added: "The referees keep the flag down and play to the whistle. Situations will happen. This won't be the only time."

Ermm......... then how does the lino indicate to the referee that the player is offside? What did I miss??

Slightly more concerning is his statement 'Situations will happen. This won't be the only time.'

How is that ok? A Manager is basically saying more players will get injured as a result of this rule rather than questioning its validity.
