Oxford United Open Season With Home Game Against Norwich City

Oxford United will start the much-anticipated 2024/25 EFL Championship season with a home tie against Norwich City.

First game: Norwich (h)
Boxing Day: Cardiff (h)
Last game: Swansea (a)

Note:
TV fixtures up until the end of September will be confirmed in the next 7 days.
TV fixtures up until the FA Cup 3rd round weekend (January 11th/12th) will be confirmed by the start of the season.
TV fixtures between FA Cup 3rd round weekend and the end of March will be confirmed by November 1st.

I really don't like 12:30 kickoffs, the players never seem up for it in quite the same way.
If not 3pm ko, then 5:30pm is far better.

It's actually levelled things up in terms of disrupting kick off times - all the League One opening games have been moved as well to 5.30pm.

It's a nonsense. They may as well have removed the 3pm blackout, the reason for which was to protect lower league (and admittedly non-league) from all the plastic Premiership fans who'd choose to watch Arsenal in the pub over their local team in person.

How many Arsenal fans who watch in the pub go to FL/NL games though? Those sort of people have no interest in football outside of the big six anyway, won’t watch Brentford vs Brighton on the tv let alone go to Oxford vs Preston so I agree with you, it’s pointless.
 
Everyone will be on TV 20 times minimum. In Championship that goes up to 24 minimum. So on average 7 out of 12 games in each round of fixtures will be on telly. That first weekend 4 games are on Friday night across the EFL with 2 in Championship. I think Friday night is going to be a regular slot as well as Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes.

It will be interesting to see how they divide the games up. We will get some idea next week when the first batch come out. Sevem league games and at least one Carabao Cup match before October. So expect us to be on TV 4 times by then.

Bookies coupons will be all over the place. Remember the meme Don't Back The Early Kick Off.

Although your numbers are right, the average of 7 out of 12 live tv games doesn't mean 7 fixtures will be moved for tv each weekend. The idea is that for some rounds of fixtures, every single match will be televised - directly replacing iFollow (unless viewing from abroad).

That definitely applies to the opening weekend (already announced) and the final weekend. There are 9 rounds of midweek fixtures and five holiday games: Good Friday, Easter Monday, Boxing Day, Sunday 29th December and New Years Day (shout if I've missed any).

That adds up to 16, meaning that at least 8 of our 30 games currently scheduled for Saturday 3pm will be moved for tv. Roughly 4 games will actually be moved for tv for each round of fixtures, the rest will be on tv in their already announced slots (eg. 8pm Tuesday)

Yes I agree. 7 out of every 12 would be silly with only 5 kick offs at 3pm. That doesn't work.
8 out of 30 isn’t so bad as long as it's not a long trip for the away fans for a 1230 kick off. I can see that fans will treasure the 3pm Saturday games home and away even more in the future whereas with some midweek ones it will be interesting to see how many fans actually turn up. I was disappointed to see however that we won't actually be going to Stoke on a Tuesday night.
 
I noticed the home game v QPR in April is listed as a Wednesday night, not Tuesday - wonder why that is.
 
Seem to be a few Wednesday games listed, that could affect attendance - at training for the walking football team- just hope we don't get Sunday games that will clash with WF league games😳🤣🤣

Currently three Championship games live on Sky Sports in the opening months of the season:

12.30pm Saturday, 10th August, Norwich City (H)

8pm Friday, 16th August, Coventry City (A)

12.30pm Saturday, 14th September, Stoke City (H)

Sky Sports’ selections are up until the end of September, with all fixtures thereafter still subject to change for TV.
