World Cup FIFA World Cup plans

Remarkably Sepp Blatter is now seen as the better example!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blatter and Infantino are both crooks - Blatter was just much less ambitious about it!

Blatter was happy just funneling a bit of money his way from the ordinary course of football business. Infantino wanted to blow up football completely to maximize his piece of the pie.

Not really its was exactly who Infantino was targeting smaller footballing nations with the lure of big money
That will be the smaller footballing nations with masses of population in tow. What was that 48 team tournament missing? Only 3 of the 10 most populated countries made the finals. The other 7 cannot qualify because they are simply not good enough. So the answer is dilute the quality and bring another 16 teams to the finals through rigging the draws so China, Russia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh get to qualify. Gives you a whole load more people to rinse.

These nations get a bit of coin and the people at the top of their individual football organisations will each pocket a fortune. They then vote for the little bald t**t and then the bird has truly flown forever.

He should have resigned over the US player being reinstated after the red card, the Quansah 2 match ban (ensuring he would not play a semi final v Argentina) and the non punishment of the Argentina squad for the political banners.

Let’s hope the footballing family get this twunt out of our game for good.

Problem for FIFA is that even if they had gone to 64 teams for 2026......Indonesia would probably have made it, but the other Asian teams on your list wouldn't.
The next best teams in Asian qualifying were the UAE, Oman, Indonesia and Palestine!

India, Pakistan and Bangladesh didn't even make the third qualifying round (the last 18 Asian teams). In fact, they played a combined 18 games in the second round of Asian qualifying, won exactly one of them, and finished with a net goal difference of -48!

To get those three teams into the World Cup, they would have to do the sort of rigging that I don't think even FIFA is capable of!

Nah, what Infantino has done is the opposite - he's completely flattened the voting structure at FIFA so that it doesn't matter how many people your country has, nor how traditionally competent you've been at football.....everyone's vote is worth the same.

So Montserrat's (population ~4,000) vote is worth the same as India's (population ~1.5 billion) and Brazil's.

So by saying that every FIFA country would get an equal $40m for backing his plan, he was counting on all the smaller countries voting in their own self-interest to pass the proposals, and get him his billions.

Thankfully the leadership at UEFA and CONCACAF finally stood up to him.

Infantino is just using the modern Trump approach - do things in the open that are massively corrupt and hubristic but harder to define as a crime and prosecute, rather than the secretive behind closed doors brown paper bags. This self justification of corrupt behaviour is becoming more common now and one of the characteristics is the person saying “but I’ve not broken the law” (eh, Nigel?). It’s the ethical equivalent of the footballer’s “but I got the ball ref” after horrifically cleaning someone out.

One member, one vote seems perfectly reasonable to me.
But this over inflates the power of countries with small populations in the same way the US Senate always was a built in conservative bias because the smallest states have an equal representation to the large ones. In FIFA's case it means the small countries can easily be bought off by the Presedent offering equal cash donations for votes. $40m goes alot further in Tonga than it does in Brazil or England.

Some of those countries barely play the sport, it’s the biggest sport in the world but not in every country. So Brazil, England, France etc get the same voting power as a place which has about 38 people who play the game, that leaves it very open to corruption.

Tonga wonga gate.

The thing is we all know it will come back in another form.

Drop the hand grenade, see the reaction, readjust who you guide in your direction for support and try again.

Infantino will go quiet while doing the politics and will be promising a sufficient number of countries the moon on a plate to retain his position

CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani seems to be the challenger, presuming he gets re-elected as CONCACAF president.

Nominations/Candidates need to be declared by mid-November........

Sounds like a Bond villain. Which in all fairness would be an improvement.

Uefa said in a letter to Infantino "it is actively considering legal action, arbitration, and/or regulatory complaints (together, the 'proceedings') arising out of and in connection with the FFE plan proposed by Fifa".

Uefa added it wants "immediate steps to identify, locate and preserve all documents and electronically stored information described in this notice that are in your or Fifa possession, custody or control.

"These obligations arise independently of any internal retention policy you or your organisation maintain and supersede any routine document destruction or deletion policies that would otherwise apply."

Quick............. lose the phones.................

Well if Infantino does manage to hold onto his job let’s hope he remembers who had his back during this dark time for him. Hopefully we will be out of that embargo and have all red cards rescinded. Always thought Infantino was a good old boy.

This could descend into civil war?

UEFA/European FAs need support from elsewhere in the world to succeed but it seems the way it is going. UEFA need a genuinely viable alternative candidate if they have any chance of getting those other FAs to switch sides.

I suppose the ultimate move by UEFA member countries would be to carry on with a boycott of FIFA competitions. Although that could have implications down the line.

Argentina back the President? I guess they are hoping for a lenient punishment following their antics after the semi final and final matches of the World Cup.

The political fightback..........

France have surrendered already.
