Leicester City: Club win PSR appeal against Premier League charge
Leicester win an appeal against a decision that could have led to a points deduction for an alleged breach of Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules.

It is an interesting one - in theory exactly in line with rules, but the fact their accounting year was extended that last year seems a reason the rules should have thought about in advance.![]()

good questions - especially given what happened due to failing to pay loan fees on time. OUFC finance dept need to make sure everything is as it should be, then double and triple checkTaken me a while to work this one out.
24 April 2023 Leicester extend their financial year-end to finish on 30 June 2023 from 31 May 2023.
At this point Leicester are 17th and one place above the relegation zone.
end of season they are relegated in 18th.
At the Premier League AGM on 14 June 2023 all of the relegated clubs transfer their membership back to the EPL.
So I guess Leicester's case is that they weren't EPL members at the end of their financial period to Jun 2023.
But although they were relegated, other clubs could argue that Leicester took points off them / they had an unfair advantage.
Will be interesting to see how we comply with the Championship rules whatever they are? We seem to be spending a lot on wages and transfer fees, so will the increased TV etc revenues cover us?
Think it is max losses of £39million in any 3 year period.Taken me a while to work this one out.

Transfer fees are split over the number of years a player signs a contract. For example we pay a million pounds for Dembele on a 4 year contract. That transfer fee is then 250k a season on the balance sheet.Taken me a while to work this one out.

It is the reason why Chelsea are giving their players 7-8 year contracts as they have found a loop hole in the system.
We have spent circa 2.5 million on transfer fees this summer, over 3 years (worst case), on a balance sheet, we have spent £833k this season so far on fees while getting an extra 10million in income.
Joao Felix signed a 7 year deal this summer. That loophole has been closed, only allowed up to 5 years now iirc.
But the transfer payments now need to be completed within those first 5 years.Joao Felix signed a 7 year deal this summer.

Joao Felix joins Chelsea from Atletico Madrid as Conor Gallagher exits - BBC Sport
Chelsea sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid for £45m as Conor Gallagher moves in the opposite direction for about £33m.www.bbc.co.uk
Leicester found a loop hole when they donāt have the same amount of money as City do to pay for legal help.Serial cheats Leicester City can`t be disciplined by the EPL as their offences "took place" while they were members of the EFL.
A little creative accounting and they swerve any punishment.
Will the loophole be closed? Doubt it.
Will the EFL hold any retrospective punishment for them? Doubt it.
Will Man City et al ever be charged? Doubt it.
Games gone.
And probably then the several appeals from Cityās huge legal team and subsequent diminished verdicts till it amounts to nowt.![]()
Man City's 115 charges: Premier League hearing began on Monday and could last up to two months
A hearing into the Premier Leagues 115 charges against Man City over alleged financial breaches began on Monday; City alleged to have broken spending rules by failing to provide accurate information across a nine-year spell, as well as subverting UEFA financial fair play ruleswww.skysports.com
The hearing to begin on Monday but don't expect a swift judgement
I think itās the whole world of football that wants to see them get punished for cheating the season, not just āpremier league rivalsā.
Ah, but all Pep and Co care about is the Premier League, as was shown during that farce of a tuppence handout from the top flight to the lower leagues to keep teams financially secure during the pandemic. As if City would not have been able to make a payment to support the entirety of Conference N/S through League One, let alone with the other 19 teams in the top flight. Abysmal.I think itās the whole world of football that wants to see them get punished for cheating the season, not just āpremier league rivalsā.
I think there is also a separate "fair value" investigation underway as £75million for 2 hotels was thought excessive.Chelsea will run out of properties and other assets to sell to their parent company soon.

I'm sure they can find a reason to deduct Everton 10 points amongst this...

The muppets will still pay. Honestly I'm surprised the "top 6" aren't abolishing season tickets and charging £150 per game at this point.![]()
Manchester United at risk of PSR breach, club tell fans
Manchester United have written to fans to warn them that the club are at risk of breaching spending rules - and that ticket prices could rise as a result.www.bbc.co.uk
You could go and watch Karl at Salford! Or Stockport isnāt far.Didn't they already raise the ticket prices just over a month ago, to Ā£60 for the cheapest seats, and no concession/child/elderly discount?
Were I an authentic Manc*, I would genuinely consider sacking off my club and turning to their FC United "phoenix club".
*Not that they have many of those in attendance anyway...
