Swindon away. 2-1 win Sercombe and Hall with a cracker. Then at the end their keeper getting sent off.
Loved it when a couple of their inbreds ran on to the pitch and ran towards over 2,000 Oxford, as they got closer they got slower and slower, enabling the stewards plenty of time to grab them.
This game produced my favourite YouTube video ever…. Warning NSFW!

Difficult to argue with that top ten.

3 from the Wilder years, 5 from Appleton, 2 from Buckingham. Our 3 most successful managers since 2010.

Charlton 2-3 Oxford (2018) was also included in the notable mentions. Personally I'd have put it in the top 10.

Some of the other games in the list were excellent results in isolation but not indicative of wider success (4-1 at Pompey, some of the Swindon wins...)
There weren't many away fans at Lincoln or Gills compared to the games that made the top 10. Must've been around 2k at the scum games. That Pompey game was 2.5k or 3k depending on whether you believe the official attendance or not! Just looked up Lincoln and Gillingham and it was mid-600's at both, so that lowers the votes considerably (I don't think either were televised).

Fair enough

Telling that four honourable mentions were for when KR was manager but no top 10 games despite playing some excellent football at times. The West Ham in particular was a mauling.

Rather indicative of his time as manager of us and his general managerial career overall. Always the bridesmaid and all that.

Quite correct. From memory I think about 800 at Lincoln and 750 at Gillingham.

I had the pleasure of being at both, in the respective boardrooms.

Paul Scally, the Gillingham Chairman was absolutely fuming, but to be fair to him very magnanimous, when talking to us after the game. The Gillingham Boardroom is quite large and also has a few tables of sponsors in it and after the game the Gillingham captain comes in and talks through the game to those assembled. The poor bloke didn't know what to say, and under different circumstances I'd have felt sorry for him, but it was a Steve Evans side we'd just humiliated, so sympathy was in short supply.

Micael Appleton was sat just behind me in the Directors' Box at Lincoln (he officially took over on the Monday following the game) and his comment to me afterwards was "I suppose it's a bit early for any Appleton out chants"

16 March 2019 - OUFC v Bradford

"Whyte into the penalty area. The shot is blocked. It breaks to Mackie..."

And then it was like the VAR decision before the VAR was introduced elsewhere.
My son was mascot that day too. It was 90 minutes of some of the worst football seen at the Kassam since 2010 (bottom two teams in League 1 playing in a full on gale) and then 3 minutes of madness whilst they missed, Easty took the goal kick, we missed, then scored and the chaos for the next few minutes with one linesman disallowing it, the other one adamant that it was within the laws and the ref seeming not to have a clue.

That was a proper sliding doors moment too. If Bradford had scored the absolute sitter they missed I believe they would have gone above us and we'd have been bottom of league 1 in mid-March and at least four points off safety. Bradford went down that season and are still in League 2 now.

The goal was disputed because there was a question of Bradford being awarded a penalty for an incident just before we broke upfield to score, as I recall. So even more of a sliding doors moment.

I was at both of those games.
I still think Brannagan's four penalties in a match are not given as much recognition as they deserve.
There should have been a feature in SPOTY and the FIFA Ballon D'or presentation just to recognise this as so far as I know it is unprecedented in professional football. I can say "I was there", just like seeing future World Cup and Copa America winner Emi Martinez away at Port Vale.

I might be wrong, but I think that the lino on the North Stand side (our left back side) had flagged to say that Eastwood's goal kick should be re-taken as there were still Bradford players in the box when he took it. The other lino (South Stand other end of the pitch) then told the ref that law had been changed to allow quickly taken goal kicks.
They did claim a pen for when their player missed the chance, but the ball went out for a goal kick, so the lino would have had to have flagged for a pen before the goalkick was taken.

The best for me was ( if we don't take into account the 2010 and 2024 promotions ): Leyton Orient away last season . Everything was ok : the win despite the departure of the Snake, atmosphere in the stand, the way the players celebrated after the game with us

Close, but it wasn't the presence of Bradford players in the area but Josh Ruffels controlled the pass from Easty while the ball was still inside the penalty area, the first season that was allowed

I’d add Brentford 0 - Oxford 4 in the league cup. I think we were three up within 15 minutes and the commentary was that Brentford fans might as well leave and get home in time for Holby City. The point being I think was a 7:45 kick off and the tv show started at 8pm.

Didn't they go up with Doncaster?

Purely on a personal basis it has to be the Bradford game,it was my first home game of the season I was in the Churchill hospital for the first game of the season being treated for blood cancer, at some stage I thought that I might never get well enough to get back to the Kassam, somehow I have to give it a go, major issue at that time was extreme fatigue, so I just gritted my teeth a bit and went, some finish to say the least! I missed a whole season after covid as I didn't safe in large groups of people.

I think he controlled it (or officials said) just outside the box, as I don't think that law changed until 1 July 2019 (so start of the following season).

Sorry, yes... I forgot the season has finished!!! I swear I have dementia, can remember 2019 fine, but not this month!! :O ;) lol
