Fan's View - Doncaster

Happy Christmas Paul, you and your family. Looking forward to the next edition!

Nice report as always. Merry Christmas and then straight back on it please! :)

I would however like to point out that a light year is a measure of distance, not time...

Thank you Paul.
Having not been to the game yesterday it was a really good read (as usual)
After that horrible horrible first 11 games, who woulx have thought that by Christmas we would be 'only 5 points ahead of the relegation positions?
Happy Christmas to you and yours.

Fair summary great report again, thank you.
"Sustainable Championship Club" … ummm? Not sure this is possible! If you follow Kieran Maguire, PriceofFootball, on twitter, it appears most Championship clubs lose money each year, some to tune of 10M a year. I think Forest have lost money 10 years on trot, even after good crowds of 24k.
The excuse (or lack of it) for the 150k HMRC bill is odd, it sounds a lot to you and me, but at the end of the day it should just be a standard, routine monthly payment that is clearly known from running the monthly payroll and payable on the 20th of the month following.

It is indeed. I've fallen into the trap. But I can't be arsed change it.

Interesting read, as this is the first game for some time that I’ve read your report, not having seen the match myself (apart from the Checker Thingy which I don’t count). The highlights seem to suggest we were playing much the better football, as do the stats. Are your standards getting higher, Paul?

Thanks, as always, Paul, for your interesting and informative accounts of the game (and of the beer). All the best for Christmas and the New Year, and may 2019 bring the Yellows great success.

Perhaps they are. But I did think we played well. I also thought Donny did too at times. There were spells when each team were in the ascendancy. It might be though that I've just got very accoustomed to drawing away in the league and hence expecting that to be the right outcome.

19th not 20th. Payroll periods run to the 5th of each month and then you get 2 weeks to pay.

Is it possible that the payroll is outsourced by the club to a payroll specialist who would also collect the PAYE and be responsible for passing it on. If so and they had not paid the HMRC the club would be in a legal dispute and would not be able to comment. Ill sit back and await the bag carrier accusations now. Merry Chistmas Paul and thank you for the excellent reports.

It is actually due no later than the 22nd for electronic payments, 19th for cheque payments.
I would hope we are capable of using electronic banking!

Majority of companies outsource payroll. However, the physical cash payment of salaries and related taxes will still be made from the football club's bank account. The payroll specialist will calculate the PAYE owed but the club has responsibility to pass it on.

Now that payroll gets reported digitally to HMRC every month they are much quicker to identify any underpayments compared to the old system of once a year reporting and reconciliations.
