Fan's View Fan's View 24/25: No.2 - Norwich at home

A good read as always.

We worked incredibly hard against the ball from minute one and we were great with the ball too. It was an enthralling watch and I like many wondered if
we could maintain the levels and it was noticeable, naturally after that output that with 20 to go some gaps appeared and the distances between some
players widened. We had really exerted ourselves and looked the part. The step up to Champ. football was quickly evident. Turn the ball over in midfield and seconds later
you’ll probably be in great danger !

But Desmond and his superb back room were quick to make the necessary tactical adjustments and El Miz looked confident and assured and Leigh gave us that energy and drive and we saw the game out comfortably.

Looking forward to seeing plenty of the new signings in action tomorrow night against the Posh.

Thank you, Paul.
What pleased me most was our snappiness in midfield, which was not always there last season, even towards the end. I agree with you about one or two of the Norwich challenges, and wonder if Goodrham and Rodrigues in particular got under their skin a bit. I wonder if another referee might not be so lenient, particularly if the opposition fall over tactically. The Harris / Hanley challenge was a case in point.

Yup, good start to the season Paul. After all the shennanigans off pitch it was so refreshing and, I think it can be said, exhilarating, to get back to what it's all about, footy.
Great seeing all those usual faces sitting around us (and others we meet up with on the concourse)
I didn't get the feeling that any considered us relegation fodder. The expectation was of a good season and, maybe not promotion but, consolidation as a minimum.

Norwich fans have commented on social media that Hanley often goes down like that in an attempt to win a free kick which he often gets. Their view is stay on your feet you're a big bloke. They weren't yelling for a foul.

Funny you were saying about seeing no Man United colours out in the evening.
I had a brief stopover at the Three Guineas by Reading station later on my way home after the match.
A few people went past with Man City shirts went past presumably on their way back from the Community Shield and were just getting off the train.
Some Reading fans in the corner of the outside area started chanting "we support our local team", which I thought was a bit ironic, seeing as Reading were actually playing away at Birmingham City with the 5:30pm kick-off.

Top article as usual Paul. As others have mentioned, it was very reminiscent of the Wembley final, the closing down etc. At 1 point in the 2nd half in front of me in the SSL a Norwich defender had the ball at his feet on the edge of the penalty area, with no outlet. Ruben, Sparky and Tyler all high pressing. Exactly the same scenario we saw in the final with Bolton's CB foot on the ball with nowhere to go.

Cov away will be interesting

Excellent as always although I'm not sure I needed to know you woke up and then went back to sleep again. 🥴
