Fan's View FAN’S VIEW: 24/25 – No.16: SWANSEA AT HOME

It really is depressing to say that I agree with every word posted. I said on Saturday, embarrassing, and I meant it. Play like that again and we can as good as forget staying in this league.
The prospects then are not good. Rumours of discontent amongst the money men and the implications of one, or more, withdrawing their finance are not to be taken lightly.

Great report @Paul B , I fully agree that the defence is not the problem

Why would there be discontent among the money men @Manorlounger ? If they’ve mismanaged the stadium application it’s no one else’s fault, and no one could have expected us not to struggle at some point.

I can’t see any mention of our owners and withdrawing finance in Paul’s report ?

Nor I .
Some like to throw stones and wait for the ripples to spread .
Firstly, I did not quote @Paul B so no, you did not see any mention in his Fans view. Apologies to @Paul B of that was misconstrued. Second, I mentioned something I heard on Saturday. I clearly stated rumour, not fact and that such rumours are not to be taken lightly. They may be just that, rumours and we will not hear anything more but, the fact that such things are spoken of is, all the same, concerning.
From a personal note, I could well imagine the huge cost of the stadium and maintaining a Championship team would cause anyone to look very carefully at recent results and ask questions about how their money was being used.
On a more optimistic note, the recent push towards community involvement, the improvements to the training facilities, the advances made by the womens teams and the Academy etc all suggest that the financiers are happy to keep injecting funds.
I am concerned, as I imagine are the owners, that the first team results could, and should be better.

One tends to hear all manner of comments in the SSU. Usually they can be dismissed out of hand. The suggestion that there was any discontent, even the slightest, made me stop and think. It probably is nothing, I certainly hope so.

People adding two and two and making five- GF himself said in his missive that they wouldn't be blown off course by short term upsets.

Injuries
Yes, it seems incredible that we continue to have so many. And that what are reported as “slight knocks” turn into long term absence.
What’s going on? Why are some of are key players still missing? Why are so many of our squad seemingly so fragile?
Can anyone enlighten me?

A depressing read, but very accurate, as always.

I was shocked El Miz was dropped from the starting 11 as he's been our best midfielder since Cams injury and the only one who gets stuck in, wins the ball and does something with it. We looked so much better, and created more, once he was on.

Scarlett has been growing with confidence for some time now and offers so much more than Harris is at present. He has to be first choice. I'd even go as far to say I'd have Goodwin ahead of Harris at the moment. He needs a rest/kick up the a**e.

Unfortunately a kick up the a**e doesn't improve quality. Nor does a rest come to that.

A precise & accurate report Paul. The manager's mood when interviewed on RO afterwards said it all & his selection & set-up tomorrow will be interesting.

It was a pretty grim performance ,I can't really understand the collective mind set of the team, the play it out so slowly from the back clearly was not working,so why rinse and repeat time after time, points are looking harder to get each game which is worrying, at the start of the season I just hope that the team could do enough to stay up, my viewpoint hasn't changed

Well I have to say that I really didn’t like the look of Cams injury right from the moment he did it.
The fact that he wanted to stay on speaks volumes about him but I am not surprised in the least that his is a fair few weeks.

If I recall correctly (I'm never 100% sure of these things!) we kicked off the second half by giving the ball to Cumming who, not for the first time, booted it long to no-one in particular. It summed things up - no confidence in the midfielders to hold the ball and create something, starting from the half way line for goodness sake. We have good defensive options, 7 fit outfield players out of 8 to choose from, a fine keeper and a good understudy, but I agree with Paul, elsewhere on the pitch we are sorely lacking with the current fit personnel. Scarlett el Miz and Tyler being the bright spots to build on.

With a squad mostly fit we’re competitive at this level. With a few injuries, we’re definitely one of the weakest sides in the division.

I’m not sure why this is a surprise to anyone - we should have always known that avoiding relegation would involve a a large slice of luck.

The criminal thing is supporters turning on the players. If you want a guaranteed route to relegation, that’s it.
