People are free to leave early if they wish, of course. I have had to do so a couple of times when I have had to get home by a certain time for other commitments. And the car parks can be a b****r, that it true also. There is little worse after a game than sitting in a queue to get out (especially if you are stewing because we lost)!
But...
So much of the exciting stuff - the last gasp goals, the gung ho attacking and last ditch defending - happens in the last ten minutes and added time (and yes, I did see people leaving on 80 minutes), that I cannot really understand wanting to leave early unless you really have to.
As for the game itself - I agree with the sentiment in Paul's article. It was a difficult match to assess. West Brom gave the appearance of being more threatening than us - but in fact weren't. Some of their passing and movement was excellent, but much of the time resulted in very little. It isn't as if they missed a whole load of glaring chances - the other best chance in the game was probably Brown's header. So were they poor, or was our defence good? Probably both. As a crotchety old devil, I still don't really get some of the short goal kicks - three passes across the face of your own goal (with the opposition bearing down on you) before it gets punted long up the pitch seems like a much more risky option than sending it long to start with - and seems to get very little advantage the majority of the time. I also think we are going to have to mix up the way we play a little - we are somewhat predictable, and other teams now have video of us to know that. It can make us easy to shut down.
