Yes, very much agree with this.Great read, as ever, @Paul B .
Re. the Jamie Cumming stats, I wonder if it's fair to compare a goalkeeper's passing accuracy with that of an outfield player, given that a lot of their 'passes' are long balls, which stand less chance of reaching their intended destination than, say, a short pass executed by a midfielder. Better maybe to compare with other goalkeepers - but then again, stats would be skewed by that keeper's team's style of play - eg, the goalkeeper for a team that plays out from the back a lot would presumably be expected to have a higher % of successful passes because more of them are short passes, and easier to execute...
Could well have lost it years ago. But yes I don't always write in chronological order.Paul, I admire your writing, but the following sentence made me seriously scratch my head. Poor Paul has seriously lost it!
"Secondly Ian for putting us up for the night, providing a fry up on Saturday morning and taking us to the match."
But then I realized you weren't writing chronologically.
As always, though, a great read...thanks so much for you (and now Boris) for writing these reviews.
Yes, very much agree with this.
Preston's keeper was 75% accurate with 36 passes.Yes, very much agree with this.
Absolutely correct there.Tis the cumulative impact of the statistics that matters............. 1-3 being the sum.
Great read as ever.
Preston's keeper was 75% accurate with 36 passes.
I've checked the other Championship keepers accuracy at the weekend. Cumming had the worst record. Two were in the 80%s and the Ipswich keeper was 96% accurate. Perhaps he never went long at all.
That would have helped a bit I suppose.Call me old school but I wish the Ipswich keeper had been more accurate with his shot-stopping.
