Fan's View FAN’S VIEW 2025/26 – MILLWALL AWAY (WELL THAT’S WHAT I’VE CALLED IT)

Despite it's length, a relatively easy read @Paul B . Very much nail on head with your observations. It was a disappointing season and, as you commented, not value for money. Likewise, we'll be signing up for the coming season regardless. Already started planning which away games will be weekenders. (Plymouth looms large with a particular restaurant we like)

You mentioned the new chair and director, perhaps they will bring the audit of the club that may just be required?

As usual a well written thoughtful piece which no doubt reflects on how many of us feel, recruitment has to improve, over the last 2 seasons it’s been poor, too many players who did’nt produce the goods when needed, or even used in the first place

Another good piece Paul. And yes, you are picking on Mark Harris if that's your call-out moment from 46 league games!

Great read as usual, but I woukd say a lot of fans had left Millwall well before the end, so I guess the people in and around you stayed making it look busier than it was!!

We gave up after the short corner which ended up being a throw-in!! so didn’t get to see our only shot (well header) on target!!

"We gave up after the short corner which ended up being a throw-in!!" :ROFLMAO:

My two companions both wanted to head to the pub after we heard the second goal go in. I managed to convince them to stay by telling them we could lose 9-0 (I stayed to the end against Birmingham and Wigan, but didn't against Dorchester Town as my grandad always left on 85 minutes whatever the score to "beat the traffic").

I stayed to the end in all 3 of those games. As some do. Idiots or what?

I never want to leave early, think I've only done it once in recent years because the mate (the driver) wanted to get away. I refused to leave the Wigan game!

I never leave early, even at 7-0 down. There's always the chance that you might get to witness something historic: a brilliant goal or a moment of hilarity or something

How many football matches have you watched?

How many of those have featured a brilliant goal or a moment of hilarity or something when 7-0 down?

I tend to miss brilliant goals by going down for beers before halftime although I did manage to miss both Swansea goals at their place this season, which made up for it a bit.

That is a rooky error. 'It's a great time to score Gary'.

We normally stay until the end, but had to convince a few to still go after the Charlton result/the pre-season game against Sheffield Wednesday the week before when we were already relegated, and also had to drag them from the pub in Borough Market pre-match by saying…the shackles will be off and will be good to see what happens/it being the last game in the Championship for potentially another 25 years, but after such a lacklustre performance with nothing changing/no shots on target for 75mins, plus losing 2-0 I couldn’t convince them any longer😂

That's one of the reasons I stay.

My group left just after the second goal. After the New Year Day game when we were kept hanging around in the rain for half an hour to get permission to get on the train, seemed a good idea to get out early. Also to make the best of a nice afternoon at the courtyard of the George near Borough Market.

It was pretty obvious to us that we wouldn't be held back because the Millwall fans would stay in the ground to celebrate. It also wasn't raining this time!

It was worth staying just to see the silly sausages on the pitch and say goodbye to Lankshear at the end. A bit of grit blew into my eye when he gave his shirt to a young fan, of course I wasn't crying.

We nearly got there late despite being in London at 9.15, was in the Old King's Head near London Bridge Station and suddenly realised it was 5 to 12, almost forgot it was 12.30 kick off.
Haven't left early for many years, since Port Vale equalised in about the 92nd minute, as I walked out in disgust Oxford scored the winner, never again 🤣🤣🤣
Haven't enjoyed the football part of matchdays for a lot of this season either but 100% renewing the season ticket hoping for a better 54th season than number 53

Thanks so much Paul for all of your excellent and thoughtful commentaries on the games, and extra-game views, and Boris, for having taken over some of the load. You both write so well, and I always share your views with friends in the US, France, and Carlisle (they're all only fans because of me).

I get to see us play so rarely that there's not a cat in hell's chance that I'd leave without applauding the team off the field (and I've seen many more defeats than victories). I won't be buying a season ticket (I never have, not having lived in the UK since 1981) but I will of course be renewing my payment to OUTV.

It must take you both a load of time to write, and you both deserve a hearty round of thanks...and I'd buy you both a beer (or two) if I were to meet up with you at any game. THANKS!!!
