When watching the other play off games , is it me, or were other clubs not enforcing the wearing of masks throughout the game. At the Kassam we were continually told to pull them up the mini second we finished drinking or eating. Before everybody piles in and lectures me about Covid etc , don't have a problem with mask wearing , but does it begin and end in Oxfordshire. Just saying....

The mask wearing certainly seemed to be much less evident in the coverage of some other games - and some people apparently think you breathe in and out through your chin!

Hopefully, because we were among the sensible ones, less Oxford supporters will end up contracting, passing on or being ill from Covid than the less responsible.

It seemed all the northern clubs didn't abide by the rules and Morecombe fans were not Social Distancing in the terraces.

Sutton fans in the NL also didn't social distance and many weren't wearing masks.

Also 2 of their players were bellends in jumping into the crowd to celebrate promotion.

What the morons don't understand is that if covid goes back up again, the government won't hesitate to ban football fans. And it will go on and on and on.

The Blackpool fans were a disgrace. All piled into one area, no masks and shouting their lungs out. In normal circumstances you would say that's just good support. But I'd much rather be able to attend sensibly than not at all.

I'm probably going to get a fair few people who disagree with me strongly here but the problem is the rules are too strict and arbitrary, and that has led to many people believing its all a bit farcical and not following the rules at all.

Why are masks needed when people are socially distanced in an open-air football stadium? That makes no sense to me. So many of the rules are enforced arbitrarily and without any common sense.

After a year locked in their houses people want to (rightly or wrongly) lose themselves in the moment, particularly now many vulnerable people are vaccinated.

Both ends of the mask debate need to come together a bit more and stop calling each other "covidiots" and "conspiracy theorists" etc.

Look at the celebrations in Lille last night, humans are not designed to wear masks and not socialise with each other in a normal way. I will wear a mask when I can but I don't like it and can't wait for it to end. It is so inhuman.

Some people have become terrified of being even close to other humans and I dont know how easily they will be able to give up wearing their mask and get back to normality, that is sad.

Life is about living, not avoiding dying, for many many people.

There are two sides to this coin and I'm not willing to call footballers "bellends" for losing themselves in the moment after over a year of restrictions during a huge moment in their career.

As far as I'm aware the rules were decided by the local authorities and were different for each club. OUFC fans were told they had to keep their mask on at all times (eating/drinking aside) as soon as they were on the footprint of the stadium.

Barnsley, Blackpool and others have been told a mask was not required once they were seated in the ground, but were required walking to their seats and to the toilets etc (like current pub rules).

A little unfair given the vastly different atmosphere you can create with masks on and off. Blackpool fans also seemed to congregate into a singing section with dozens together, whereas OUFC fans were forced into a strict seating plan which was obviously enforced by the stewards.

So you needed to wear a mask even if on your own outside the stadium but in its "footprint" (whatever that means), this is exactly what I mean about the rules being arbitrary and turning people off from following any rules at all.

They are bellends precisely because of over a year's restrictions and the possibility of that returning. Their teammates managed to restrain themselves from jumping into the unmasked (mostly), non social distancing crowd.

A little harsh in my opinion. Almost half of the population and therefore all vulnerable have received 2 doses of the vaccine, and the vaccines work against all known variants. We are close to returning to 0 restrictions, full festivals and stadia etc, the PM has reiterated no reason for this not to happen on the 21st June, perhaps a bit extreme to label a few young footballers "bellends"... for hugging a fan in the open air.

It really isn't difficult to avoid jumping into a group of fans (not fan) in the present circumstances, considering their teammates managed it.

I must admit I didn't think it made much sense having to wear a mask whilst outside and socially distanced.

I'm happy to continue wearing a mask in some scenarios (even after 21st June), but not so much in an outside arena. I'd even go as far as to say it reduced my enjoyment of being back at the football.

If I can eat a burger at pub and not wear a mask, I should be afforded the same freedom whilst watching football outdoors. There is data that proves being maskless at an outdoor event is no more dangerous than going shopping. Im not going to get into this again, but masks do very little to prevent the spread of anything, and I think a lot of people have cottoned on to that…

With ‘deaths within 28 days of a positive test’ being so low and vaccination figures being so high, it’s time to get rid of that mandate, once and for all.

Funny enough I went to the Vue cinema yesterday at the kassam and obviously it was wear masks while walking round the place, going to the toilet etc but as soon as you were in your socially distanced seat masks were optional. This venue is inside so not sure why In a football stadium outside it is compulsory to wear a mask. Hopefully we are coming out the end of this now and we can see a clear future.

My only thought is that fans singing and shouting will spread particles more.
