Home Match Day Thread +++ FAC 4th Replay - OUFC v Newcastle United MDT +++

What a game of football.

We were poor for the first half an hour but from then on we certainly matched them, and outplayed them a times.

Back 5 all brilliant. Sykes brilliant. Holland really grew into the game and took his goal very well.

Agyei was another positive, certainly deserves to be in the first team picture.

Liam Kelly looks like an absolutely brilliant footballer technically, but about a stone overweight ? if he can get fit he looks like a seriously good signing.

So unlucky. But so proud! As far Newcastle...you can see why they hate Bruce. They play shocking football.

Shiiiit at 0-0 Shrews had a goal chalked off through VAR!! God that would be agony

Couldn't agree more with Alan Shearer:

Oxford’s players will be devastated. But they should be very proud. It’s been a great occasion. They’ve done themselves proud live on the TV. They showed immense character to give themselves an opportunity. Their priority, as it always has been, is to get out of League One but they can take great confidence from this.

Mackie was absolutely awful once again. Based on today's performance it is clear as day that Daniel Agyei should be starting week in week out. Agyei and Kelly were the game changers and it is clear to see that Karl Robinson continues to ignore Agyei based on personal reasons rather than ability. He can literally do everything on the ball. He has strong hold up play, pace, dribbling ability and win headers. Karl Robinson should honestly hang his head in shame for overlooking Agyei in favour of Mackie without fail.

What are the details of these personal reasons ?

Well, you know that sometimes he wears mismatched socks, and Karl just can't stand that. So, even though Dan is clearly a match winner and all-round brilliant player, Karl prefers to let those socks get in the way. We won't get promoted, as a result, but he just has a thing about mismatched socks. Oh, and he might just see Dan in training now and again. Not that that has anything to do with it. It's those bloody mismatched socks.

EDIT: My comment is, of course, directed at our brilliant "starlite" above, who happens to know about Karl's utterly mystifying thing against mismatched socks.

Couldn't watch as was on the job, but got to listen.
What a match.
Very proud of the Ox tonight.
Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

Well what a game! End of the first half, I had resigned to a loss, then THAT!

Newcastle were pressing us all over, 2-3 players on us, giving us no room.

We shocked them, then they were tired in ET.

Quality goal to lose to though.
