Fa Cup Fourth Round draw

Kings X to Newcastle is the best bet if we do play them

Direct train from Oxford would better for a lot of fans I would imagine.
Both fine to take, although for Sunderland I took the Newcastle direct train and it's a very long time sat in the same spot! Going via London breaks the journey up and it certainly *feels* faster despite it being roughly the same time.

There's no trains from Kings Cross, and National Rail are advising to avoid London at all costs on that weekend.

"Newcastle's only previous meeting with Oxford came at the same stage of this competition in 2016/17, with the U's winning 3-0 at the Kassam Stadium "

Eh?

I thought you were quoting from a local newspaper site, not their official web site.

Eh?

They've missed a bit in saying 'in the FA Cup'.

They don't even have the excuse of 'football was invented in 1992' as Newcastle played the first PL season outside the top flight.

I'm an exile, and was able to get the game vs. Hartlepool streamed on Vipbox.tv, with no annoying pop-up ads and good quality (at least in the second half...the quality from the mighty yellows left a little to be desired in the first half) and so there's no reason to think that the game vs. Newcastle (or even Rochdale) won't be equally available.

Actually, Jon - I meant that it won't be on live TV in the UK (which means more money for the club).

It will definitely be on ESPN+ here in the US, so I'll be able to watch it regardless!

How many games are televised? I would guess that if it is Newcastle then we'd have a half decent chance of being picked.

Who else will be picked?

Bristol City/Shrewsbury v Liverpool
Tranmere (if they win) v Man Utd (if they win)
Man City v Fulham
Coventry (if they win) v Birmingham

Few stand out games, and we are not only a decent side to watch but would also have a half decent chance, and only 3 years since we beat Newcastle at the same stage.

I'd think both Hull vs. Chelsea and Brentford vs. Leicester would be chosen ahead of our game.
Partly because Chelsea/Leicester are much, much better teams than Newcastle.
And partly because I reckon the TV companies prefer games where the 'big' team is the away side.

So I'm very doubtful that we'll be chosen for live coverage.

But if we hold them to a draw, I'd wager a lot of money that a replay would be...…..

I think its a dead cert for TV, premier team at home (struggling) against an inform league 1 side.. no brainer

The excellent nufc.com says "fair to say that we'll never have a better chance of making a first Fifth Round appearance since Mike Ashley bought the club in May 2007."

Ha, all the big teams! Brighton and Hull. And Stevenage!

Not able to find any return flights to Newcastle on the 25th Jan? Has anyone found any flights?
