FA Cup FA Cup 2025-2026

Disappointing draw but should have enough to go through.

With Leicester City, Cambridge United, Birmingham City, Bristol City, Watford, Stoke, Coventry and Sheffield United still left it could have been worse I guess.

Forecasting TV games:

Macclesfield v Palace
Spurs v Villa
Man Utd v Brighton
Pompey v Arsenal
Everton v Sunderland
They will put Boreham wood and the Grimsby vs Western games on TV I think. Potentially Wolves vs Shrewsbury too as it’s a sort of local derby. Charlton vs Chelsea has a good chance.
One game that is a certain is the Man U vs Brighton game.

Just chatting to a Dons ST holder now who says away fans aren’t segregated now and we’ll get a couple of thousand at least. Apparently the away segregation went with their change in ownership. No idea how reliable that info is!

(Or it could be they’ve not had many big enough away allocations in L2 for it to matter? I’ve long since given up looking at MK Dons league attendance figures. They are more of a work of fiction than a Harry Potter novel)
I would expect more than a couple of thousand

Brought to my attention that Rowett doesn't really do cup runs, hope it's different with us! 🤞🏼

His last 10 seasons in the FA cup are abit meh...

A depressing January afternoon in Milton Keynes watching Matt Ingram get beaten by a couple of speculative Nathaniel Méndez-Laing efforts whilst we try to play Ole Romeny and Matt Phillips into some kind of form and indulge Tom Bradshaw with minutes off the bench?

It's a hard pass from me.

The magic of the cup

It's easier to get to than Exeter and quicker to get home after we lose. The cider won't be as good though.

They'll want more potential giant killings than that.

Chalk off Everton vs. Sunderland, and add either Charlton vs. Chelsea, or Wrexham vs. Forest (because, like everyone else, they won't be able to resist the Deadpool Hollywood nonsense) or both......don't know how many games get shown nowadays.

Not sure that watching our fringe XI against MK Dons is going to be worth forking out for a one month's ESPN+ subscription, to be honest........

Bookmarked to see just how accurate this is.

I’m going to go with ‘spot on’.

Third round of the cup will be spread over 4 or even 5 days. 32 ties and I doubt we will get more than 10 kicking off in the traditional 3pm Saturday slot. Pick 3 or 4 for TV and play all the others at the same time.

Wouldn’t be surprised if our game kicked off at 12 noon Saturday or is played on the Sunday.

Whats the likelihood of the U's drawing Salford in this years FA cup 3rd round?
31 to 1 at the start. Then decreasing incrementally as each team pair gets drawn, until the final pairing is 1 in 1 if Salford and Oxford remain.

As is my understanding of maffs.
31 to 1 might be how it works in German "maffs" but in English Mathematics it is different:

There were 64 teams in the draw - Oxford plus 63 others. Therefore the chances of Oxford drawing any particular one of the other 63 is 1 in 63.

Dunno, our tie is so unattractive, even with the chance of a giant killing, that the one plus point is it’s pretty likely to left at 3pm on a Saturday.
