Match Buildup Exeter v OUFC

Exeter drew in the FA Cup so they have a long trip and a replay to face against Hartlepool , they are also pushing for promotion. If anything they should be thinking about playing a weakened side. Interesting to see who they/Hartlepool get in the third round. That could influence their team selection as well.

Just noticed that they are also playing 6th placed Northampton on Saturday. Even more reason why they won't want to play their strongest team. The match is on Wednesday so not much of a gap till Saturday. They certainly won't want any injuries.

Because nobody really gives a toss?
gotta be honest... scum away and wembley appearances apart ...... my sentiments exactly, until recently

however the unbeaten run, now at a record 16 unbeaten, with seriously exciting football being played
I'm seriously considering lifting my own embargo on the (tinpot) competition,
especially as Im working in South Somerset on Thursday, andwill be just 40 miles from Exeter on Wed eve

me too:oops: ... shocked at myself for being so fickle ;) ...that said, want to make the most of the football the U's are playing at the moment;)

besides OUFC do get prize £ if we progress on Wed... whereas the Citeh cup game only gets the club our share of gate receipts

For me, if there is a positive thing about this competition, is that it's a good chance to get some of our squad players who aren't getting regular games in the league a competitive run around.

So I would definitely want Long, Moore, Forde, Sykes, Mackie, Agyei & Hall in there.
Add Gorrin, because he can't play on Saturday, and it'll keep his eye in.

Playing those eight comfortably satisfies the 'Qualifying player' requirement, and avoids us getting fined as well.

Stevens & Nico Jones would then make a lot of sense - so that just leaves left back. If we can use Berkoe - job done. If we can't, then maybe we play Cadden, and shift Long to left back?

The rest of Saturday's team gets a well-earned rest ahead of the congested December fixture list; but I still think that team should be strong enough to beat an Exeter side that will logically be treating the competition as a similar lower priority.
