Good for fitness to build on notts county.hopefully emakhu is back for this,blood in youngsters for example Burton and griffiths,snowden and bradney.couldnt care too much about this because of the competition,fair play to those travelling.

It's certainly a strange one, but it also handily affords Ramsey an off-ramp for bringing Cumming back into the starting eleven.

Dropping Eastwood would perhaps have been harsh based on performances alone, but this is a good chance to get Jamie back playing and then reasserting himself as number one.

Normally it's the chance to give the No 2 some minutes anyway of course

Selection rules for the Trophy as follows

The EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.

7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:

- had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below*) ;
- subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture ;
- is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
- has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season);

or is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.

*First Team Fixture means the League Competition, Premier League, EFL Cup or FA Challenge Cup (but shall, in the context of Rules 7.4.3 and 7.4.4 only, also include this Competition).

Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

Preceding Fixture XI: Eastwood, Kioso, Helik, Brown, Currie, Brannagan, McDonnell, Andrews, Missanga, Dembele, Harris.

Known To Be Unavailable: Eastwood, Andrews, Brown, Harris, McDonnell, Spencer.

Based on the rules can see a team of
Cumming, Kioso, Long, Helik, Leigh, Bradney, Sibley, Snowden, Lynch, O'Donkor plus another midfielder, but do we have anyone other than Cam?

James Golding could do with some game time for his career and then you've got the other young lads on pro deals.

Given the lack of midfield depth, I think you protect have to protect Brannagan here.

Fill the bench with kids but I don't see the point in resting players when they have had such a long break. It will be a good way to get some minutes in ready for the game at Notts County.

Does it mean 4 have to start or can we put them on the bench and not use them?

Think we need to play a 50.50 team with better players on bench if needed.

Despite others views and I respect them this is another cup and we should go all out to progress and win it. It's extra mins for fringe players youth and money and a great day out at the end

I suspect it will be quite a strong team due to getting minutes back into the players' legs. Our other group fixtures' line ups will look a lot different I reckon.

Completely disagree here.

With a relatively thin squad in various areas, largely due to the embargo, we should not be paying this competition any attention from a first team perspective, other than in the first game at Exeter, whereby it will be a good opportunity to get some of the first team 45/60 mins in the legs after a pretty long break (albeit they are playing at least 1 BCD friendly during the break).

I can't think of anything worse than losing first team players to injury, in a quest to win the tin pot, that then compromises our chances of being successful in the league because we have players injured and unavailable.

Interesting question at the end of the Guardian's knowledge by some Oxford fan.
Longest period between a dismissal and subsequent punishment.
Not quite the same, as it didn't involve a sending off, but I do recall the case of Craig David (he of Bo Selecta fame), who was prevented from playing in Jason Dodd's testimonial at the Dell because he was banned by the FA due to an unpaid fine. The fine was issued in or around January 1998, and the testimonial took place in May 2021 without David's involvement. The crowd were instead 'treated' to the sight of John Leslie, Dean Gaffney, Michael Greco and Rupert Lowe among the players - as well as, er, Nicky Banger.

Was Rupert Lowe on the right wing?
