The rise and fall of Rushden & Diamonds is undoubtedly an interesting story. The book could be worth reading depending on how well Burgess covers it.

Leyton Orient have signed Dane Scarlett from Spurs “on a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee”. Obviously De Zerbi has decided he won’t make the grade in the Premier League.

Watched Livingston Vs Stenhousemuir tonight on BBC Scotland and a Stenhousemuir sub reminded me of Paul Reece. Kargbo hadn't been announced as signing for Stenhousemuir before the game.

Blimey that’s a niche read though he looks good on the cover. I guess all their fans will buy it.

It does seem a lot of effort to go to for a club who don’t exist anymore, who had a small fanbase when they were flying and whose phoenix club fanbase is probably around 500. I suppose they were a story at the time and you might get non league die hards and a few of his former clubs fans read it for mentions of their clubs, but it’s still not exactly going to be hitting Harry Potter esque sales. Might have a quick scan through if it ever ends for free on Amazon Prime on my Kindle.

I only really remember him for being a bit of a ponce on the pitch, slagging Jom Smith off and getting booed at the Kassam (actually think he had a column in the Daily Mirror from a non league players view) and a couple of lads I know telling me he did a line of coke with them in the toilets of the now demolished Quarry Gate pub at the time he played for us.

My memory of him is when he came back with Mansfield and spent the game standing on the left wing, just waiting for the ball to come to him. Much like I did at school when I was 12.

Started off on the wing under Talbot but moved to behind the strikers under Smith in the Conference when he shifted us to having wingbacks.

Think he did ok when we took off in the first season in the Conference but then was one of players who disappeared when we collapsed?

He certainly lost his place in the side once Danny Rose came in, which was around X-mas.

I seem to remember he may have been shifted out to wingback for the occasional game for the run-in as our options were either Johnson or Brevett, both of whom were around 36 at the time.

I'm sure he thought he was a midfield playmaker but he was on the wing sometimes.

I was at a corporate event with Jim Smith at the time. He was a great bloke- very friendly and chatty. Ran me through every player in the squad and gave me a (not particularly flattering) view of each of them. He admitted he really struggled to work with players at that level. He actually thought Burgess was quite talented, but said his attitude was appalling. The second laziest player he had ever seen in training. The laziest apparently was Rob Duffy.
